1. Fenugreek for appetite control
-In a 2009 study, people ate a breakfast with either 0g, 4g, or 8g of fenugreek. Fenugreek significantly increased feelings of fullness for several hours after the meal, and the higher the dose, the more satiated the participants were.
-Another 2009 study found that people who took fenugreek extract spontaneously consumed 13% fewer calories throughout the day.

2. Chili peppers for fat burning
-A 2013 study found similar results: people showed a 7%-10% increase in calories burned throughout the day after eating a meal with spicy chilis.
-A 2009 study found that capsaicin decreases ghrelin release after meals, which suppressed appetite. Ghrelin is the hormone that makes you feel hungry, so anything you can do to decrease it is helpful if you’re trying to lose weight.

3. Ashwagandha for stress relief
-Research shows that withanolides normalize your hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis), the pathway in your brain that triggers cortisol release and activates your stress response.
-A double-blind 2019 study found that ashwagandha lowered cortisol and self-reported stress levels in healthy people.

We moroccans have a popular dish called"RFISSA"we use fenugreek, lentils, onions, evoo, .... in it, it is delicious, spicy, but the smell of fenugreek shows up in urine and sweat, sometimes it is unpleasant!
Young females:do not take fenugreek, it can cause ovarian cysts, pregnant women do not take it either cuz it can cause fetal malformation, menopausal women would benefit from fenugreek, good for hot flashes.thank you Dr Mindy❤

I have been using Fenugreek for years. I first started taking it in my twenties to increase my supply while nursing. And continued using it to help with breast health and to stabilize my blood sugar. 😊

To take capsaicin in supplement form, take it with food and put some butter on the capsule. This will help overcome acid reflux.

Fenugreek is used very commonly in a lot of dishes in my culture(East Indian)…grew up on it, love it. 🥰

I love that you’re sharing what is good for us to eat. I’ve bee trying to buy healthier foods and even started cooking treats for my kids’ school lunches to get away from the bad oils and toxic preservatives. I’m looking forward to your book “Eat Like A Girl.” 😊 Thank you for all of your hard work. You truly are a blessing and I’ve gotten all of my sisters to fast according to their cycles. 🥰

I reached a weightloss plateau, even with circuit weight training 3x week and hill hiking 5 or 6 miles 1x week. I still have about 15 pounds to go. I cut out even irganic yogurt and started fenugreek and ashwaghanda for the past month or so with IF. Nothing happened at first, but now I'm down 7 pounds.

Love it. I am seen good results (down 1kg every week) by switching fasting hrs and normal eating days (still trying not to feel guilty when eating 3 meals) but the results show this lifestyle is possible without sacrificing pasta😅. Thank you. I will reach my goal weight before I turn 60 in 10 months time.

Great work, Dr. Mindy. I can’t put in words how much I’ve learned from you about maintaining a healthy lifestyle over the years, especially regarding the right type of fasting.

Though there’s tonnes of information on the benefits of fasting on the Internet, there’s not always enough information on which type is best for us women and how should we incorporate it into our lives and being women, we have our unique requirements (compared to men) and you’ve addressed those beautifully in many of your videos where you detailed how women should stop fasting a week before their menstrual cycle and during the cycle itself for a normal, healthy cycle. This has been a game-changer.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve shared this info with other women in different health groups and how many have benefited from it, especially those who were experiencing severe hair fall, mood issues, and disrupted cycles.

Always looking forward to your invaluable advice and knowledge.

I love this! I’m all about continuing to learn everything from Fast like a Girl. I’m even more in love with natural and herbal paths.
Fenugreek is also great for pulling extra mucus from the body.

I'm from the Middle East and we use cayenne pepper in food as a home remedy for joints.
I also use ashwagandha to help with anemia.

Hi Mindy! New to your channel and absolutely loving the content - and have been sharing it with my friends! I want to adopt the ‘fast like a girl’ lifestyle so I’ve been catching up on many of your earlier videos which are helping me to understand different fasting styles but as a 49 year old perimenopausal woman with hypothyroidism (which I have had since my early 30s and I take Levothyroxine) I don’t know which fasting protocol to focus on?
Do I follow your fasting guidelines for perimenopause or for thyroid? Which of your books would be best for me to read?
Thanks for all you are doing to help woman to really understand their bodies - I’m so grateful to have found your channel!! ❤

I'm taking Cayenne Pepper supplements that seem to be helping... When I remember to take them. I can't eat the hot-stuff like I could when I was younger so the supplements are a great way to get the capsaicin without my mouth on fire and eyes & nose running! I do get a burning sensation through my chest about 10 minutes after taking them that lasts for about 2-3 minutes, but it's not bad at all. So much better than the face-on-fire reaction from eating peppers. 😅

Can you do a water fasting with water infused with spices?

I tried fenugreek about 15-20 years ago. I couldn't stand the way i smelled 😧. I took it in pill form but can't recall the dosage. I couldn't last more than 2-3 days 🙅🏻‍♀️. I think it made me sweat more but the sweat smelled unnatural 😅
