How To Digest Protein Better (Dr. Benjamin Bikman)

Показать описание
In this video, research scientist Dr. Benjamin Bikman explains an easy way to better digest protein for better health results.
Eating fat with protein can aid in the digestion and absorption of both nutrients, although the mechanisms are complex and multifaceted. Protein digestion begins in the stomach, where hydrochloric acid and enzymes called "proteases" break it down into smaller chains of amino acids. These amino acids are then absorbed into the bloodstream through the cells lining the small intestines.
It's important to note that individual factors, such as your specific dietary needs, your digestive system's efficiency, and your overall health, can play a significant role in how your body processes macronutrients like protein and fat. The effect of fat on protein digestion may vary from person to person.
Who Is Dr. Benjamin Bikman?
Dr. Benjamin Bikman is a renowned research scientist and professor specializing in cell biology and physiology at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. He is particularly known for his research into the molecular mechanisms that mediate the disruption that causes and accompanies metabolic disorders, such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Bikman's research agenda is twofold. Firstly, his lab aims to identify the molecular mechanisms that explain the increased risk of disease that accompanies weight gain. Secondly, he conducts basic and applied research into the origins of insulin resistance, as well as the molecular mediators of ketogenic diets.
His work has been widely recognized in the scientific community, with his publications being cited by other researchers over 3,700 times. He also runs the Bikman Lab at BYU, which focuses on cell biology and physiology
