“Can sell it for 60k right now.” No longer the case after recent reduction. Ouch!!

"P" is the identifier for 2023. They don't use "O"...confused for zero...and it's the 10th digit of the VIN. There... you got me to comment... well played!

I agree with you, when you care about a customer and you remove features to reduce cost then you should 1. reduce the price of the vehicle since you're paying LESS to make it or 2. Explain the shortage and offer some kind of credit, free charging cable or something to show "we care about your business".

It’s not a chip problem. It is just to save costs. Sensors are much more expensive than a couple of cameras. Also lumbar support does not require any specific chips that were seeing shortages.

For those looking for a smoother ride supposedly they’ve improved the suspension in recent builds. I test drove a MYP and even with the 21’ wheels it felt smoother than my 2020 LR build.

Thanks you very much for the comparison. FYI: The parking-sensors were not radar, it was ultra-sonic-sensors (USS). Please don't mix up.

2023 Model Y jumps cameras from 1.4MP to 5MP and has brand new comfort suspension. Big miss on YouTubers part.

Ultrasonic sensors are not radar. The clue is in the word "sonic" verses the R in radar (RAdio Detection And Ranging). US sensor use high frequency sound and radar uses radio waves.

Also curious if the new suspension is comfier than before??

You totally missed the suspension changes to 2023 Y starting mid Oct 2022. This is a huge change. It’s also not backward compatible. Apparently, the suspension changes make it a better ride ( more comfortable).

Best part is no part. Chip or no chips - less parts less cost... that simple. I have just got a 2023 Model Y and I love it

It is the short range ultrasound “parking” sensors that are missing on the 2023 car, not the radar sensor. The radar is also missing on the 2023 car, but that has no visible components on the 2020 car.

The tenth digit represents the Model Year and is standardized by NHSTA. The plant that manufactures the vehicle is identified by digit 11 and in the U.S. it can be: F = Fremont, California, A = Austin, Texas

They are ultrasonic sensors that were removed, not radar

One more Gjeebs… since 2022, they dropped data from all USB-C jacks. Only one offers data now, the USB-A port in the glove box. So gaming, music sticks, and video storage all have to happen from there.

As an engineer I can say your chip shortage theory (which you state as fact) doesn't make sense for sensors nor things like lumbar support. These things are readily available and used in many cars. It's about cost and margin.

I prefer the f the customer method via Tesla price increases for less features. Kinda like Twitter Blue.

Thanks for continuing to put out great Tesla content. Would certainly like to know ride quality difference and possible side view camera difference if there is any and you can get the owner to allow you to drive for a comparison.

My 2024 MYLR came with Perelli (not Good Year) tires. The 11th letter is an A on the VIN which stands for Austin. That is followed by 24 for the year. I just got it 3 weeks ago and LOVE it! Price $44k (including optional white seats, tow package and Ultra Red paint)
