Don't Get Scammed! What to look for when buying a potential restoration project car

This time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm going to show you the potential pit falls to look out for when buying a project vehicle. I just bought this 1969 Plymouth GTX and as you can see it needs a little work. Some work has already been done, like new frame rails and floors, but the work is done poorly. The rear frame rails have been fixed very badly and will need to be replaced. The welding is very poor and a bunch of panels are not connected correctly. I can fix all this, but it adds time and money to the restoration, especially if you are paying someone else to do the work for you.

Please like, share, and subscribe. I put out new videos every Wednesday and Sunday.

Usually I don’t like it when people complain about the work done on projects by previous owners, but for this abomination I will make an exception!

That car will be a tough ride when you get her all fixed up. You can teach some on the fine work of proper welding! Going to be a great build!! CHARGE on!!

Josh, you have your work cut out for you. A lot of work but you're better then a lot, you can put this car back together. Looking forward to the journey.

I’d rather have an untouched vehicle that I would repair than fixing somebody else’s crappy work.

We are definitely cut from the same cloth.
You sir are a glutton for classic automotive punishment.

I've got a 74 charger like that only the welds are ok... Just not enough of them rear wheel housings 3 welds per side.. Trunk floor and drop offs total of maybe 10 welds.. But hey it's ok I got the car for free with about 2k in New sheet metal.... Poor kid gave up and township was fining them for having the car on yeah check your project out very well before you buy and factor in the work and price of parts and how complete it is into what you pay for a project car...and Always estimate the damage is worse the what you see cause it usually is.

Man that is some of the worst "welding" I've seen. But it's only metal and it can be fixed just a shame that it needs to be redone.

Looks the Armature hr with 110, China freight flux core welder. shame they ruined those quality repair panels with such poor attempt to build, but in the end you bought it, hope you got the deal of Iam in over my head take this off my hands.

Buying a "unfinished" project, can be a great deal, but, gotta know what your looking at! That one is OK for you, but, needy. With the questionable workmanship, + previous collision damage, yes, level the car and measure everything carefully, before starting any work. Dubs.
