You can actually hear the eye twitch at the reveal of the C-sides.

Hello, Celeste speedrunner here. To answer few questions:
- Those are snowballs, not cannon balls
- Yes, you got your dash back because the hit boxes of the spikes are a lot smaller than they seem
- Finally, yes, we are insane, I'm currently at the 7a for golden strawberries, I love pain, and I yearn for death

7:35 That moment gets me every time. “Those who perished on the climb.”

Climbing the mountain is a metaphor for improving your mental health. For doing the hard work of getting better. But not everyone makes it. Some perish on the climb.

"you probably have this on your second screen playing as a podcast." i didnt ask to be called out like that, this channel is my gaming buddy and i listen while i play lmao

Madeline: "Depression makes me feel like I'm at the bottom of the ocean"

Seanie: "Farewell sure has a lot of aquatic themed obstacles in it, huh?"

LMAO the "dude, fuse with me, we'll have three dashes" part got me.

Chapter 8 is incredibly important story wise imo.
While chapter 1-7 set up the idea of being completely yourself including the bad, chapter 8 has you returning but this time Madeline is looking at where they truly started, depressed, empty, hollow just like the core.
I know from experience once you've climbed that mountain and look back you'll see how deep your originally were.
And to me chapter 9 is about not falling back down after the death of someone who helped pull you out.

Celestes story is genuinely so good.

I have many things to say so I'll make a list :
• you must be really good at puzzle games, I've never seen anyone get all the blue crystals hearts one they own. You are amazing on this
• you are CRAZY, you were not supposed to play B-sides right after finishing the A-sides ! It way be why you struggle so much with them.
• I like your effort in voice acting, it was really good (especially at the beginning)
• it's funny that the one room that is known to be THE hardest and most hated (short) room in the game only took you 30min to beat
• Congratulations ! It's always refreshing to see new players discover this beautiful game, hope you liked it !

I have arthritis in one of my wrists. I played about half this game with accessibility settings turned on. I could not get further, it was causing me so much pain. Good luck!

I played Celeste in 2020, and I did 100% it myself.

When I closed the game for the final time, after getting the Moonberry and finishing Chapter 9, sitting in my room alone, I spoke aloud my feelings on the experience:

“That was a great game. I never want to play it again.”

So the core is about self reflection, that's the reason there isn't much dialogue, switching between fire and ice is about keeping balance in Madeline's mind, using only fire or ice won't get you to the end, but when you use both as when Madline and Badeline cooperate in the summit you can do anything.
Also the final room matches her description of depression earlier in the game.

>I'm at the bottom of the ocean.
>I can't see anything in any direction.
>It's claustrophobic, yet I feel exposed.
>I don't know.
>I'm just floating in this abyss, swimming in a random direction.
>Hoping that I find something.

Appart from that, in gameplay the core is just a hard level and a gate to harder levels just for the more exprienced players and completionist, as originally the idea for fareweel was to only be unlocked after completing all c-sides as it was meant to only be a pack of difficult rooms before Maddy figured out a story for the chapter and added more rooms (that's why in the game files Farewell is referred as LostLevels).

The speech around 2:05:00 really resonated with me. I've always known that I'm not good at video games - I didn't grow up playing them so I never got good. My first console was a switch when I was 29; I thought I'd missed the window where I could learn to play well and I couldn't develop the necessary dexterity as an adult. But... As I've slowly added to the list of games I've 100%d (Stardew Valley, Pokémon: Legends Arceus, Pokémon Snap, Powerwash Simulator, a couple more) I've been forced to realize that I *am* good at some parts of games. And the parts that I'm not good at, like memory? I can still do it! I just have to work a little harder!
Thanks, Seanie. I know it was meant mostly in jest but it made me feel understood and validated. My current 100% project is Plague, Inc Evolved and it's HARD. But I can do it. Thanks for the reminder of that. 😁

dude i commented on your raft video: "100% celeste if you have balls." I didn't expect you to actually do it lol

2:01:20 That is precisely what happened. You going into spikes kills you. Spikes moving into you does not. Speedrunners and TAS use this fact a lot to do 'spike jumps'. So the platformed moved into you and Madeline touched the ground, giving your dash back. Also, watch a speedrun if you wanna be blown away XD

It's crazy how you can put out so many high quality videos in such a short amount of time, I know how hard it can be and i have huge respect for you!

@SeanieDew Thanks for the shoutout! I appreciate it, but mostly happy that my video was of help. Congrats on beating Celeste 100%, not a challenge for the faint of heart that's for sure :)

1:31:43 fun fact: the dialogue actually changes depending on the strawberries you’ve collected, it’ll taste horrible if you only got a couple
