Good grief, Cornelius! You have lived an incredibly interesting life! From an adorable tyke growing up in a Mennonite community, to a horrible accident, to a knowledgeable pattern drafter and sewist, to a fabulous instructor, to one of my very favorite content creators. Nuthin' but mad respect and love!!❤

Im not surprised to learn that you are raised as a menonite. Its something about your kindness that is very telling in a wonderful way. Your birthplace surprised me, though. I like how your name is pronounced in your dialect. Thanks for sharing.

My mom grew up Mennonite on a farm in Canada. She called their language low German, is that the same? Awesome channel, by the way! I looked up a rollkuchen video a few months ago and now I get a lot of Mennonite videos on my feed! 😂

Thanks for your pattern instructions. And me being Dutch I think we can al most understand one another in Plautdietsch.

This is awesome! I am half german and half dutch, so I guess I am somewhat of Plautdietsch speaker myself?🤷‍♂️ Jokes aside, I could actually understand the Plautdietsch, so cool :) By the way, you make very helpful videos, I just startet sewing and thanks to you I am almost able to make my own T-Shirts, I love it. Especially your older videos on how to make a T-Shirt are great, I actually made the same mistakes as you did, so now I don’t feel that stupid anymore (not that you are stupid), because you turned out to be great at sewing! I really like how you explain the concepts and not just how something is done, I think it is far more valuable to actually know how something works “under the hood” (I guess that is not the right expression here, but you get what I am saying). Anyways, thank you very much, all the best!👋

You have Polish last name. In Polish it will be "Ćwirek".
The first sound in your surname is "Ć", it's a sonorous "c". It appears only in Polish (and in Plautdietsch of corse 😉 )

So interesting! I'd love to hear about your coming to America story. I once watched "Menonites' First Flight, " a documentary about a group who moved to Peru. It was interesting and moving. I'm going to have to look up the history of Menonites in South and Central America.

tbh that sounds more like dutch with a sprinkle of german, and specially the writing is closer to dutch than to german.

I grew up around a lot of mennonites in Manitoba, and I never really gave them much thought. Looking back now they seem a little peculiar, but not in any negative way. Just a little out of the ordinary.

Thank you very much for sharing this . I saw the video you did with your beautiful mum sewing a shirt. I have only just discovered your videos and I really love them.
Some sewing videos can be boring but yours are interesting and fun. Regards to yourself, your mum and family from Austalia.
