What's The Best Way To Configure A G-Sync Display?

You should make an actual guide on how to set up G-Sync and V-Sync based on what a user might want out of them. I know Alex has done a Tech Focus on V-Sync but a video on what exactly is going to happen when enabling all of the different refresh options (V-Sync, G-Sync, VRR etc) in differing titles and/or on differing platforms would be great. I feel like most people don't know the what and why of enabling and disabling each option will actually do to their viewing experience and a comprehensive guide that explains how they effect it is a sure "W" for the Foundry lot.

rich did note it, but just to make it clear they mean gsync on, reflex on (if the game supports it) + Vsync ON IN THE NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL AND OFF IN GAMES. you also need to limit your framerate in the control panel to 2-3 fps lower than your maximum refresh rate to prevent it from exiting the VRR range. blur busters also recommends this in their guide

I want
GSync
VSync

If your rig can crush a game (2x + your display's max refresh) vrr off and fast synch on is fantastic. It's a great balance on not overworking your card since it throws away uneeded frames which eliminates tearing and delivers fantastic frame times. I literally get around 1ms with these settings while playing Dead Cells. AMD's and Intel's versions are called enhanced sync and speed sync respectively.

G-Sync+V-Sync (forced on in NVCP)+Reflex---- With DLSS FG on all supported Games

G-synch+V-synch+Reflex for singleplayer
G-synch+Reflex without V-synch for competitive games
G-synch combined with V-synch gives really nice fluidity, but still comes with bigger response time

Great question, has bugged me for years and toyed with and without vsync but i do have it now exactly as you guys do, thanks

Blurbusters touched on this subject. As they said in this video no matter what game your playing, the best method would be GSYNC + VSYNC + ULTRA LOW LATENCY MODE/REFLEX or you can do GSYNC + VSYNC, Low latency mode and reflex OFF and just cap your fps to -3 below your refreshrate. I prefer gsync, vsync, reflex

what's the difference in forcing v-sync in control panel vs in-game? assuming g-sync is on

i had to turn off gsync because of oled vrr flicker. the brightness flicker reallyy strained my eyes. Wish the reviewers would go more in depth rather than saying "it just works"

It is plenty smooth without VSync above 90 fps. But I can definitely feel the difference with it on or off in the joysticks. I play with it off. But I definitely can tell when it gets turned on. That happens whenever I get an update. So I have to go back and turn it back off. That's how noticeable it is, and that's with a joystick.

digital foundry, could you please give the detail of WHERE to enable each setting (v-sync in nvidia panel or game? frame rate cap via nvidia or game?) or does it not matter. thank you!

What if the game you're playing doesn't support reflex?
In this case what is the best setting to go for?
Gsync + Vsync + Ultra Low Latency?

Many people know how to use the correct settings on NVIDIA graphics cards. (Use the recommended setting of Blur Busters) But as an amd user, I still don't know how to set vrr to get the best effect.

Is there a way to reduce image flickering on OLED panels (LG B2 in my case) while GSync is switched on?

There’s two ways to do it, gsync/freesync + vsync (as well as reflex for nvidia) or uncapped with everything off but anti lag/ reflex on, I prefer the latter since I main shooters I can care less about screen tearing as it’s not perceivable to me with 200+ 1% lows.

Gsync + FAST vsync + reflex. Idk if just feels better letting the GPU go fast 120+ and if frame rate dips below 120 on my LG C3 the panel will dip too.
Apex can run 240fps and with fast sync it’s smooth as butter 🧈, panel runs 120 still but that double frame rate eliminates any input lag.

I swear this question has no right answer lol.

I use g-sync on, v-sync off, VRR on, everything capped at 90. Smooth as butter.

I use Gsync + framecap at -3 the screen refresh rate (vsync off). I saw the blurbuster explanation about frametime variation but i never see tearing (a scanout) with vsync "off". Maybe because high refresh rate tearing is harder to see...

vsync on in control panel. OFF in game. reflex on. Cap 3 frames below max frame rate. done. Literally instructions by nvidea on their support. Many videos about this.
