Btw did you know that figs aren’t fruits, they are inverted flowers. So when you see a fig tree, you’ll never see it blossom, the “fruit” is the blossom.

Figs in Lebanon I had were super sweet and very strong in flavour, if yours is lacking in flavour it's obviously because they pick them early on and a variety that will survive shipment often weak in flavour as a result. It's hard to get the good stuff without it spoiling on the way. Usually they're also super soft, the one you're holding is holding its shape after you bit.

Fun facts: Many don't know this and most people associate figs as exclusively Mediterranean fruits but here in Borneo we have our own wild figs and it's believe there's 150 species of wild figs in borneo alone.

Back in Syria our most grown plants were figs, olives, and pistachios. And figs and olives were mentioned as some of the best fruits in the Quran(pretty sure you know that).

In india we have fig ice cream (with small chunks of fig )which tastes absolutely amazing. You can try fig shake or try kulfi.

Figs are really good, especially if they are plucked right from the tree while they are soft (very ripe) and oozing a honey-like substance. White figs are usually sweeter than red figs (the one you ate). It is a good snack and delicious when dried or made as a jam. We sometimes peel the thin green/purple outer shell since the insides are the sweetest part

Figs are supposed to be honey-level sweet, and they have a distinct flavor, especially the black variety. There's no summer where I don't at least eat 4 or 5 kilos of figs, alhamdulillah. I think you can't get good ones because shipping ripe ones is impossible, as they will spoil. That's why they ship the hard ones. Good figs sometimes can't even survive the trip from the market to your house.

This guys pallet is 2 extremes. Very sweet or very spicy, nothing in between. Give him food that satisfies either extreme and has nothing else and he'll think it's the best thing ever
