2020 Mazda6 Review // Does it compete with Accord and Camry?

The Mazda6 is slightly smaller than it's main competitors but WAY more fun to drive. Plus, the Signature trim is refined and plush. Could this be the sedan that leads you away from a boring crossover?! Check out the review!

*CORRECTION: Honda Accord 2.0 Turbo comes in six speed manual OR 10 speed automatic.

I bought 2019 Mazda 6 and I must say there is no room for regret. Comfortable drive

Depending on what trim you get, the mazda 6 is either competing with a Lexus/Audi/Mercedez or a Toyota camary/Honda accord. I was going to buy a Lexus but then I test drove this vehicle with the Grand Touring package and it had everything the Lexus has, at a much better price point. I have no idea why these don't sell more.

I’m almost 6’3, I leased a 2020 Signature and just drove 500 miles in one day. No discomfort at all, I believe the seats are first class.

Many people have forgotten about the 6, but I have a soft spot for them. Love these cars.

I have a 2014 with 106K on it. Still drives like it did when I bought it and has been bulletproof. One of the best cars I've ever owned. The 2.5 engine with the 6 speed transmission is probably the best drivetrain currently available in this class

I’m mostly looking at the Mazda 3 for my first car but the 6 is also very impressive. Mazda is such an underrated brand

Our 2017 KIA Optima SXL is missing the wood but drive it in Sport mode and the 245 BHP launches fast off the line and will downshift into corners at just the right time. Pano roof and Nappa leather complete the luxury I was seeking. Went with Metallic Titanium exterior and Aubergine interior with harmon Kardin 10 speaker 673watt sound. Add on all the safety gear and auto cruise control and we're in heaven! Thanks for your comprehensive review!

If you compare Mazda6 to camry in lower trims. Mazda6 would shame the Camry you just pay less for more and not to mention Mazda6 is still build in japan.... Toyota’s are just way overpriced now a days I feel like.

Unless Honda offers a different configuration with their 2.0L turbo Accord in Canada than in the US, the Honda with the 2.0L engine comes with a 10 speed automatic, not a CVT.

first 5 minutes is discussion of trim choices. We can all see that on the car website. I appreciate reviews that get into talking about the car and how it drives sooner. We can see the rest on spec sheets.

I used to have a Mazda 3 and I really miss that rotary dial. Ingenious and so intuitive, so much more compared to Honda mess of infotainment. I wish Mazda sold the wagon version of the 6, I have seen them in Australia and they look great.

Good review but I think you're mistaken about the exhaust note. Its real, not amplified. I drive a 2021 Mazda6 Signature daily and that exhaust is heard by every pedestrian nearby. I love it!

The more gears a transmission has, the more unreliable. And CVTs are worse. That's why I like the Mazda. Simple 6 speed gear type automatic transmission. Too bad they have cylinder de-activation.

I've got a 2017 Mazda 3 grand touring, best car I've owned. Now thinking about 2020 Mazda 6 or 3!

Yes & no is the answer to your question. Most is trim dependant, but honda's accord is the only 1 to offer a manual with both engines in their "sporty" sport trim (and it was on my next list along with GTI, Alltrack, BRZ, Si). Camry has a TRD "sporty" trim and a nice v6. Ironically, the company that brought us "zoom-zoom" doesn't offer a sporty trim (just regular and luxury) nor a manual in their big car. I'd love to see a '6 with more edge/bite/aggression to it.

I really wanted a (manual) 6wagon, but none are offered in US/CAN; shame. Instead, we get another cuv in the cx-30 to pick from 👎.

I like that Mazda is moving their product/target up to near luxury and keeping it "affordable", but I really wish they would continue with their sporty, driver-focused, motorsports inspired, zoom zoom side as well and not let the miata/MX-5 be the ONLY Mazda to carry the "really fun to drive" flag. Why go prototype racing if you aren't going to sell a (Mazda)speed or fast(er) sporty car?

Secondly, I really despise the white/parchment interior no matter how good it looks; not with as much use as a car sees. Where are the nice deep browns, blues, reds? Give us contrast, but don't use white.

I have the non turbo 4-cylinder and I get around just fine on thie highway and in the city. Not sure why you feel the need to have more to make maneuvers on the road other than you just like getting pressed back in your seat more and burning more fuel

Those two happy looking kids playing around are more beautiful than the car.
