The reason why SNSD music was blasted towards North Korea were many. 1) They were a religion in the military, most army men loved girls generation so they wouldnt mind listening to them on repeat. 2) SNSD music and TV show appearances were smuggled into north korean territory massively. They were an escape to the oppression and this was known by the "government" reason they created their own approved 9 member girl band as a counter meassure. 3) South korean entertainment highlighted the "freedom"" and differences between the south and the north and everytime their people listened or watched SNSD's content they were reminded of the things tthey didn't have. According to people who has scaped from North Korea SNSD was widely known in the north even among officials, but it was dangerous to be caught with anything related to south korean entertanment. Most probably "rich" kids or the siblings of high rank officials were the ones that smuggled SNSD stuff since they were the only permited to leave the country or use internet or things were smuggled from chinese tourists.

2nd Gen stans do have a habit of revisionist history. Like how they think snsd were a success right away when in reality they didn't break out until 2009 with gee. Wonder girls had the gg landscape on lockdown from 2007-2009. Then of course snsd took off and f(x), 2ne1, and miss a debuted.
