I always had a leather flap on the bottom too. Been a pipefitter for over a decade and chopped a many a hood.

More like specialty boilermaker tube welders. We used to make them on our lunch breaks. Someone brings the rivet gun and we would use a old leather welding jacket to shield the sparks and arc flash but yes used for hard to fit places.

Bought one of these from Outlaw Leather, was delivered today.
Not from a rigid Pipeliner shell, its flexible. No good. 👎👎👎
