Coronavirus outbreak: Manitoba to implement new rules for long-term care workers | FULL

Manitoba health officials announced during a COVID-19 update on Monday that as of May 1, nursing and support service staff who typically work at multiple care homes will be limited to working at a single site only. This is in an effort to curb the spread of the virus within long-term care homes.

Lanette Siragusa, provincial lead, health system integration, chief nursing officer for Shared Health, said this was a proactive measure based on the issues seen within long-term care homes in other areas of Canada.

During the update, Manitoba's chief provincial health officer Dr. Brent Roussin said the province had recorded only one new case of COVID-19, bringing the total to 272. There are currently seven patients in hospital, with two in intensive care units.

The total number of people who have died in Manitoba from the coronavirus remains at six.

Population Density is the key to modeling a plan. Whoever is doing the models should take cues from other less dense Canadian provinces and let the people of Manitoba know what to expect in the near future. Relatively soon is not an answer in my opinion.
