cool but replacement lamps and headlight assembkeis are already ridiculously expensive
this just makes longterm ownership even more expensive
then again most ppl lease these cars and forget about them after three yrs

If you drive a lot at night in rural areas or in the rain at night, you’d appreciate a good headlight. From my experience LED’s with projector beams are the best output. They don’t wash out in the rain like HID headlights. The BMW 5 series and X5 are the best I’ve had. Acura & Lexus are good too, but they blind other drivers.

So, Matrix LED lights have been in use everywhere else but the USA since 2003 without any issues. Only the USA with their antiquated DOT laws made it impossible to have them on USA spec’d Audis. Most folks probably don’t know that even the “fully loaded” USA versions of German cars are pretty much stripped down compared to their German counterparts. Laser lights will probably be allowed here, once an American car manufacturer “invents” them... I mean rip off the idea like they do with a lot of other things....🤣😂

Like all new tech, first only the high end cars have and no one else, until years later, BUT eventually exclusive tech becomes more common and less expensive tech.

In real life this technology doesn’t work so perfect and they do blind oncoming cars, I am a night driver and experience that every night .

Remember when headlights could be purchased for $50? Now look forward to $5, 000 headlight replacements. Auto industry has got way out of hand and in return our insurance premiums are adjusted to hurt the consumer even more.

Cost of ownership should be a factor when buying the car. If you can't afford to foot the bill when something breaks, than you shouldn't be buying the car. Period.

I'm glad they do this, I hate those insanely bright lights on new cars, especially Audi and Ford. they are blinding

2004 Audi A8 W12 first car to use LED strips as clover shape in DRL running lights, 2008 Audi S6 and S8 get fog lights LED which you see on Hyundai, 2011-2012 Mercedes, 2012 Volvo etc. The 2017 Lincoln Continental definitely copy 2008-2009 Audi daytime running lights.

2008 Audi R8 was first car in car industry to use full LED headlights and fully DRL. Audi started trend then entire car industry follow.

Like the guy stated, this tech isn't new. Matrix headlights have been around for years, just like BMW's adaptive headlights, and Mercedes Intelligent lighting. BMW was the first to have Laser lights implemented into a production car as well as OLED taillights. Volvo even has a version of the Matrix headlights on the XC90.

That is really awesome. Now place it inside the cabin. Idea should be to increase the price of the car. Put it in bumpers too and underneath the car. If person can any how afford this car monthly. Kill his stomach to pay for it, make sure that he is unable to repair it at least.

They should program the lights to illuminate potholes in the road.

If you're driving with out lights you'll end up in a ditch 🤣

Cool hi-tech, but how long will the lights last? How much will it cost to replace them, when they die?

So the headlights work until an object comes into your viewing path, and then they blackout that object in order to not blind them? What's the point of headlights that specifically don't illuminate objects like pedestrians and bicyclists in your path?

Yeah don't need $900 head lights my 2010 ones work perfectly well.

This is truly amazing, until you have have to replace the day time running light, and find out you have to replace the entire headlight assembly.
That may cost you $4, 790.78 a piece at the dealership.
