1. Myth: Kidney diseases are all incurable.
Fact: With timely diagnosis, treatment, right diet & lifestyle most chronic kidney diseases can also be kept in remission.
2. Myth: Kidney diseases are hereditary.
Fact: Genetically chances of getting kidney disease are 10 to 20% & 80% depends on your daily lifestyle and food habits.
3. Myth: You need 2 kidneys to survive.
Fact: Though we all have 2 kidneys but actually people can lead a normal life with just one healthy kidney as a single healthy kidney can perform the necessary functions for both.
4. Myth: Kidney patients can't eat normal food & diet anymore.
Fact: A balanced home-cooked meal is fine for a patient with kidney disease. Foods with high salt & high potassium need to be restricted.
5. Myth: Too much protein is hard on the kidney.
Fact: Unless you have a pre-existing chronic kidney disease or impaired kidney function, a protein rich balanced diet will not harm your kidneys.
6. Myth: My kidneys are fine as I pass a lot of urine.
Fact: If you feel fine & urinate properly then also CKD may cause damage as there are hardly any symptoms in the early stage. So you always need to practice healthy habits & routines, drink enough water & exercise regularly. And always go for a regular check up to know your kidney status.
