When and what supplements to use for a VLDP ( 20-40g protein per day)
You need ketoanalogues to fill in the amino acid deficiencies. It's a MUST! Dosing and type are something you should discuss with a dietitian!

Get enough iron - cast iron skillet and/or LuckyIronFish can be helpful
Kidney patient are prone to anemia any way and most hate their iron supplements and the side effects of such supplements. But if you use Cast Iron or a Lucky Iron Fish to ass iron as you cook, that will increase your iron intake. If you do an iron supplement, use Iron BisGlycinate. It's much gentler on the stomach. Dosing should be discussed with your doctor.

If potassium is an issue, stick with lower potassium fruits/veggies.
With a plant-based diet, especially when we replace protein with even more vegetables and fruits, some are concerned with potassium intake. If we need to worry about potassium, we'll start low and test frequently to see what the diet does to the potassium levels.

Three main things to watch out for. Get the right supplement keto analog, you also usually need a vitamin b supplement especially b12. Number two, get some iron in your diet with a supplement or some iron cookery, and number three, if you have a potassium restriction then obviously stick with your lower potassium vegetables remember meat is actually a really robust source of potassium.

People usually talk about things like 20g protein per day, or 0.8g of protein per day, etc. But what about if you eat 20g of protein per day for three days and then eat some beef liver the third day, and then you restrict again for a few days, and then you eat some eggs, then restrict again, then eat some nuts, or fish, etc. Cyclical higher protein intake.
