"Everybody gon' die!" I nearly blew tea threw my nose as I almost choked to death while laughing. You're hilarious!!! You've nailed the summery of one of my favorite shows. Thanks for the insight and the laughter (even though it almost killed me.) LOL!

LaCroix basically only ever wanted two things.
1. for Nick to be happy.
2. to know that Nick loved him.
LaCroix didn't believe there was any way to become mortal again, and believed that Nick's search for mortality would only bring him misery and depression. To know that Nick loved him and despite everything still considered him his closest friend, gave LaCroix closure, and it broke his heart to be asked by Nick to kill him, but he does so because he realizes that if he doesn't he will only be subjecting the one person he truly loves to an eternity of torment and Nick will never be able to be happy.

LaCroix killed Nick so that he could finally know peace, and accepted an eternity of darkness and loneliness knowing that his love was finally at rest.

Remember Lupa, when you have a friend in the Nightcrawler... who needs enemies?

You know, I hate the series finale much less now, after hearing your analysis! I loved the show, and the ending made my heart break, so I don't think I could look at it objectively until now.

Games Vampires Play is one of my favorites, if only because of the way Geraint Wyn Davies pronounces the word "clue" ("clew"), and the fact that he says it approximately ten million times over the course of the episode.

Thanks for the videos. I always loved the show. Season 3 was like getting punched in the face but it was still ahead of it's time.

This has been an eye-opening series. I watched every episode of the first two seasons, and none of the episodes of the last season. Wow, I had no idea how weird it got by the end.

Oh I just wondered, did anyone ever saw the Dracula series with Gerant Wynn Davies? He plays this crazy vampire called Klaus who hangs out with Dracula - it's such a silly show but I love it.

I always liked to believe LaCroix staked Nick near his heart to incapacitate him while he brought Natalie across. He'd know Nick would hate him for a long time but learn to love him again. He did have eternity after all. Eventually the trio joins with Janette who forgives Nick for bringing her back into the vampire fold. 1000 years from now they're traveling the stars, and beyond as they watch the story of humankind to its conclusion. Perhaps even finding a cure for vampirism while enjoying humanities new found immortality via technology!

My mom liked this show & I used to watch it with her on & off when it was on CBS. She'd fill me in on some of the backstory since I hadn't seen every single episode. Several years ago I rented the DVD series & attempted to watch as much of it as I could in the 7 days. I remember it had some interesting philosophical & religious discussions between characters & the relationships between characters was actually pretty complex. I never made it to the third season but I think I have seen the finale episodes rerun on SyFy, Oddly, there's a bit of Anne Rice Vampire Lestat vibe that I didn't pick up on before in the way the vampires behave towards one another. It was a gothic, melancholy kind of show in its way that attempted to address some social & moral issues. I have mostly fond memories of it, especially the lead actors.

In the interview during the second season box set, they were told to not kill THEM case they (the network) wanted to come back for a 2 hour movie. therefore Nick and Natalie somehow lives. That's my version and I am sticking with it. LOL.
Here is the interview (relevant section from the 2 minute mark).

I'm biased on this show. I had a great time with the fandom (and the fanfic wars... they were just silly fun) and I met my wife thanks to this, so... I still enjoy it for itself, though.

I really loved the first two seasons, never knew there was a third until I started watching and talking in English to other fans on the internet - but I just couldn't stand the episodes I saw so far. Probably didn't help that I did start with Black Budda.

So now I try to ignore it - but I must say, I kind of dig the ending (well the very last scene) :D

Really love that the show got 4 Manic Episodes, I always love hear from fans who are able to look at it critically. This makes me watch even the parts dealing with Season 3.

As a kid, I remember being aware of Forever Knight, but never really getting around to checking it out. One late night, I just happened to channel surf upon an episode where Michael Knight (c'mon, we all thought it at one point) fights a little girl. I stopped to watch because I was struggling to identify the actress.

I thought "Wait! Is that? Nooo! Could it be? Do my eyes deceive me or is that Carly Beth?!?! OMG IT

And then I got super giddy, because I had such a crush on her in Goosebumps. She hadn't really done many roles that I've come across. Which is unfortunate, cuz she was great in F.K. and both Haunted Masks!

Is it weird that I want to Google her now (as dirty as that already sounds)? Like an old middle school classmate that "just wanted to see what you're up to. So anyway, you doin anything tonight?" except she and I have never met, so as to avoid going full creepazoid, I'm just going to check her filmography instead...😅

I loved the entire show except for the last show. I was never happy with the way they ended it.

Actually in the last episode they were going to show Lacroix kill himself by standing on the rooftop and watching the sunrise, but they decided at the very last minute not to include that to leave the show open to another "possible" season. I was VERY heavy into this show and even met my husband because of it!

I see alota parallels with Highlander the series, in Forever Knight, the keeping the secret of immortality in modern day, the tacky early nighties late eighties clothes, Nick's corner girlfirnd alot like Tessa and Duncan, Janette is Amanda, Joe/Conner is kinda like Lacroix The flashbacks, the whole downer Who Wants to Live Forever theme.

As I recall there is precedence in the series to psychic connection through a vampire drinking a person's blood. Back in the first season that lady vampire who killed herself through sunrise is shown in a flashback making love to Nick, and during the course of it they bite each other and drink blood, which is indicated to allow them to feel each others' emotions.
