••• A LITTLE ABOUT ME •••
At the end of 2018, my husband and I quit our jobs, sold our yoga studio and 90% of our possessions and moved into our 1969 VW bus. We spent 18 months traveling the globe exploring, rock climbing, adventuring and eating delicious vegan food along the way. We recently settled in Joshua Tree, CA with our pup Gypsy, and have been adjusting to a minimalist life in a house.

I know you don’t love having short hair, but you look adorable with it pinned back like this!

Fake plastic Christmas trees are
the worst of worst. In Switzerland,
fir trees are specially grown for
this purpose. People who have
a garden, replant the tree and use
the same one year in year out.
Nice decorations Rebecca.
Very natural and pleasing.
Enjoyed this. Thanks.

Here I am watching a Christmas video in August... and I LOVE it!! Your tree and decorations are adorable. 🎄 You can enjoy them without yucky feelings of guilt. I absolutely love looking at homes and stores decorated during Christmas time, but can't help notice all of the waste that goes along with it all (packaging, plastic, just stuff... so much stuff!). I love the ideas you shared and the simplicity of it all.

I've been using less and less each year and am enjoying it even more. I rarely watch TV, but kept it on almost daily throughout the holiday season. I found several YouTube channels that played Christmas songs with a cozy fireplace, vintage scenes, or snowy scenery. It was so calming, peaceful, and still felt celebratory. ❄

Simply Festive ! I love your mindset and holiday decor! Thanks for sharing Rebecca!
We also have been getting live potted trees for the past 20 years. We've gotten various types of pines that grow in our area. We put them outside in the warmer months. When they get too big to drag in the house, we've planted them outside or given them to family to plant on their property. We have planted a forest so far and it's fun to see them grow through the years.
To cover the pot I've used an old white sheet in the past for a snowlike effect. Your burlap idea may get incorporated this year instead.
If you don't have pines around using a small patio citrus tree indoors would be fun too especially with your dried citrus round ornaments.
Besides my tree, my decor consists of a pine cone collection I started years ago when I was taking a plant/tree ID course. They are all various sizes from pines of the Sierras and coastal mountains. It's fun to remind myself what trees they're from and where I got them when I take them out to decorate every year (kinda like people do with ornaments).
I usually also add some local greenery. Cedar trimmings are my favorite because they smell amazing and stay green and they don't drop needles. Often I add just a few clippings of native Toyon berries (aka Christmas Berry) for color.
Sometimes I make a wreath out of our grapevines and add greenery and berries. Other than that, salt candles (great all year), music and food & drink does it for us.
The holidays are so much more enjoyable when the focus is simple and festive AND the clean up in January is easier too;)

I love your videos and can totally appreciate your intentions. Looking forward to more videos in the new year.
Happy Holidays to you and your Sweetie and pup:)

Really like all the sustainable ideas. Once the “season” is through you can compost it and feed it back to the earth 🌏 or plant 🌱 it. Bravo!

Last year we moved to a little 6 acre farm that has been in my family for years. I’m going to buy a potted tree so I can plant it after the season. My mom grew up very poor on a farm in Arkansas, and I will use the home made ornaments she saved all her life to remind her of where she came from! Lovely idea! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the great ideas for a more sustainable Christmas. I feel like there is way too much plastic around us at this time of year and a whole lot of waste. I like to make wreathes with locally acquired branches fallen from trees native to this area. Also because I live in Australia we have a summer Christmas so I can borrow seashells etc from the beach for some crafty displays and then hand them back after Christmas. Thanks again for a wonderful vlog. I'm so glad you are suggesting more sustainable, healthy and recyclable options to adorn our houses for this festive season ✌️🤗

Oh my gosh I’ve watched a dozen minimal Christmas videos and this is FINALLY one that is minimal enough it doesn’t overwhelm me and looks fun! (I have no decor yet so I needed super simple that won’t cost me a ton) thank you!!!!

Love the tree decorations! One year I inherited a bunch of paper coffee filters from my dad. I ended up cutting them into different snowflakes to decorate our tree. It definitely requires some creativity.

Loved this video♥️ I will be drying citrus for our tree. Seeing them on our tree among the other family ornaments will help fill the void in my heart by our forced distance♥️. Never lose your sense of wonder. Dance. Dance. Dance. 🎄

Hi Rebecca 🙂 I really really loved this. I loved everything you did. I don’t go over the top with ornaments either, but I love Christmas so much. I live alone on a one acre newly acquired about to become vegan homestead that backs onto a forest, and the free decor is abundant. I have some decorations from the dollar store that are really beautiful believe it or not...lol, and it seems crazy to trash them when I love them. But I find myself wanting to gravitate to a more sustainable way of doing things and getting great satisfaction from it. I love the stick in a jar with dried fruits tied to it. It almost makes me think of Scandinavia for some reason. I love all of your videos and never miss a single one. Thanks for giving this to us. You are the best. Namaste, my friend. ☮️💕

So lovely!`I live in a tiny treehouse deep in the forest on an island in the PNW, and I'm literally surrounded by 200 ft tall Christmas trees year round. Yesterday I noticed a largish Douglas fir branch had fallen on my deck in a wind storm, so I brought it inside, and cut it into pieces that fit in some simple white ceramic vases I had. They smell WONDERFUL, so nostalgic! so I set them on the windowsills around the treehouse. Where they immediately blended in with the background outside and became invisible. So I added some fresh cut paper white stems to make them pop, and smell even better. Then I completed the vibe by brewing some fragrant vanilla cinnamon chai tea and voile! I am festooned.
