This was a box office flop, but I thought it was a good movie.

This was not a good movie at the time (it looks pretty good compared to movies now). There were a dozen family comedies at the time that had come out, all competing with each other. 1993 was the same year that Misses Doubtfire came out with Robin Williams, Dennis the Menace, and The Sandlot. Coneheads had to compete with The Sandlot. It was doomed before it was ever released. I found the movie enjoyable as a kid, but it is very cheesy, and I really disliked Chris Farley's performance in it. I think Chris Farley was miscast and should not have been in this movie. The best performance was from Jane Curtin, who practically stole every scene she was in, but Dan Akroyd is always great. The daughter was all right, but she should have been weirder. Just a typical 90s teen with a cone prosthetic on her head rather than a fish-out-of-water alien.
