'Calistoga' Pastel Painting

Join me for this tutorial where I demonstrate how to paint small landscape scene in pastel.

My working process is a simple one; I start on location, sketching, photographing and painting. Some of these field studies make their way to the studio. In the studio I use all of that visual information and combine it with the sense or feeling I had for a location and create what is inevitably an abstraction of sorts in that it is not merely a copy of a photo but an interpretation of place. Don't you just love Calistoga. We used to live very near to this area and would visit often. Another great place to visit is Alexander Valley in the Dry Creek area. Way less tourists than in Napa. Loved your painting.

je viens de regarder votre démo sur la peinture huile, je trouve que peigniez l'huile de la meme façon que le pastel, par petite touche, les mêmes couleurs, on retrouve vraiment votre patte, c'est tres joli, j'ai beaucoup aimé votre démo sur l'huile, votre tableau est magnifique, dommage qu'il n'y ai pas plus de vidéo sur la peinture huile, merci pour le partage
