Just wanted to point out – it's actually 'cannoli' which is plural for 'cannolo' as my Italian friends so "graciously" explained

Cannoli is already plural. One is a cannolo, and cannoli is two or more. Same thing with panini/ panino, gelati/ gelato, ravioli/ raviolo. If you see an o at the end, it’s singular, and if there’s an i at the end, it’s plural.

I was a little kid when my mind was blown by my first cannolo at the Italian festival downtown after church. It had chopped maraschino cherries and shaved semisweet chocolate. The ricotta was creamy and fresh, and the shell was bubbly and so light.

My favorite. I used to work in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant, and I would sneak cannolis in the walk-in.

Like the tip on how to tell the real ones. Leaving Italy I spotted a food place in the airport that had pastries and I got one last one and it was just like these, delicious.

We have similar thing in Poland called chruściki. Same deep fryed diferent shape and serving with sugar powder or honey sauce and popy seeds
