Your advice was spot on - I went to my local Kinkos/FedEx and found they printed architectural prints same day. When they’re not busy, they will even print immediately when you walk in with a file. It was so easy!

Very important, make sure whoever plots it out for you understands, you want it plotted in landscape And Do Not Scale. I work for an engineering company so I can plot them at work

I only sew the super easy patterns because honestly, I'm not a very good sewist. But I do enjoy the process of picking out fabrics and patterns and seeing what happens. I never even wanted to consider Indie patterns. But now you have planted a you for the great information.

I agree with not being able to get the bajillion computer pages to line up exactly, NO MATTER WHAT, there is always a small discrepancy, which makes me nervous for the accuracy of the final results.
I have used PDF plotting, and found them to be super helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I agree about paying shipping, but I just wait till I have quite a few (5 at least) patterns I want printed (which wouldn’t work for someone who wants all the new shiny things RIGHT NOW) but I found it was very affordable, plus I didn’t have to take the extra time, gas or trouble of commuting to go somewhere in person.
All that said, everyone is going to have a different preference and I really appreciate you throwing out other options which might work better for some people.

I do get a bit put off buying Indie patterns for the very same reason so thank you Lindsey I shall seek one out in my town.

Someone may have said this already but most big chains will print it also. My local town has a staples that I can email the pattern to and run in and pay and pick it that afternoon. I’m sure any office supplier that has a print area in it can also do the same. But yes I’m the same! I cannot tape the home printed patterns together correct to save my life!! For me It’s so worth the extra dollars to pay to have it printed on one big sheet!

Thanks for your video, I just went through this process last week. Our town has has a couple of good print shops, so off I went. The first company no longer did that type of printing, however, the second one did for a very reasonable rate. No more printing off 35 sheets and taping them together. My patterns were multiple cup sized patterns, so it cost a little more, but I’m ok with that. I agree, it’s the best option!

OMG, girl. Perfect. I have a shop I drive by every day!

I usually print at home because I decide I want the pattern right away. I use a paper cutter, so my trimming is straight. I lay the pages out and use the diagram to see where an entire pattern piece is. Then I tape together loosely and remove a single pattern piece. Then I work on getting that piece flat, even and perfect. It's much easier to be accurate when you work with smaller pieces.

I use pdf plotting as long as I have more than 5 patterns to print to make the most of it:)

I don’t have any problem at all assembling Indie patterns. I use PDF Plotting from time to time.

I have to agree with you about home printing and taping the pieces together. I find most patterns are out at least a little bit but that can make a huge difference! Sadly, my local printer charges $5 per sheet and it’s printed on architectural paper which is too thick for me. I may keep looking as some of the more fitted patterns may turn out better as an A0.

I prefer to print and stick using layers and printing the sizes I require. It's super easy and I don't have all the size lines driving me crazy! Great video for those who prefer multi-size pattern printing.

but why didn't you get them to select your size in the layers before printing? Then you don't have everyones size confusing you while cutting?

I haven’t used a large format printing, but it might be worth it when I consider how much ink cost for my home printer 🤔

Lindsey! Have you heard about using a projector to project your pdf pattern straight onto your fabric? I just learned about it the other day, right after I watched this video the first time actually 🙈 I had to come back and tell you! (on the off chance you hadn’t seen anything about it yet)
I can’t wait to try it out

I'm jealous of you guys who can get this done for cheap. In my country it is very expensive to get large format printing

Morning I don’t do it because I find that the end result is just as costly as buying the big four
