Alina and Alex, Russians that are living and working in Mexico talk about the biggest culture shock they've experienced while living in Mexico City and working with a Latin American team. Do Latinos work more slowly than Russians? What do they do that can be frustrating to a foreigner?

From the answers it is clear the guy already had a local girlfriend.

That's Mexican culture, we're friendly. Maybe Mexico isn't for Alina, maybe going back to her home country will be better 😊

Alina sounds like she would love living in the Soviet Union.

English person here. All these small things are one the big reasons why Europeans are often sad because we lack interpersonal connections. If you visit Africa, Latin America and parts of Asia my goodness these people know how to have small talk and connect and they'll ask about all your family about your life they'll be deeply interested in what you say and will tell you everything there is about them and their life. There's this country in Africa it's normal for people to say goodbye to each other until they stop hearing each others voice. It often goes like
Goodbye
See you soon
I'll miss you
Greet everyone
Tell everyone I'll see them soon
I'll come around again
I'll tell so and so I saw you and you're well
I mean they'll keep going until they stop hearing each other. It was soo good to see

She sounds like she hasn't had a single latino hitting on her in those 5 years working with them, but he sounds like he likes to party 😂

The Mexican goodbye is the best. 30 minutes of goodbye. Makes you feel seen, wanted, and missed.

When he says that people in Mexico are slower, I think he refers to the upper class of Mexico because the lower middle class is one of the people who work the most in the world

I was married to a Ukrainian and he was very straight to the point, often times cold, never sugar coat anything type of culture. It’s very different and hard to get used to. We divorced eventually but wow what an experience it was

What's the point of living if you're not going to enjoy it?

I appreciate Alina’s honesty and perspective. I think there’s beauty in differences and that’s ok. It’s interesting to hear ppl share their perspective who aren’t Mexican.

You can always go back to your country asap…I can take you to the airport myself. FYI, you don’t get culture shock when you visit another country, it’s you the one that needs to adapt and learn another culture not the other way around.

Uy, los del norte somos un "poquito" mas secos pero de todos modos somos así. Pero si eso le molesta, creo que México no es el mejor lugar para ella.

The so-called developed world will come around someday maybe, to what is important in life.

Well, that's true. I'm colombian and sometimes I feel I don't say enough "goodbye."

It’s true. Hispanics will say “goodbye hope to see you soon, we’ll chat next weekend” then after a year we’ll see that person again and say something like “oh you never call, it was nice seeing you, hopefully we hang out soon”. lol. It’s just nice to be nice you know

We do take a long time to say good bye 😂 and have a conversation with just about anyone learning about their kids and plans for the day.
