One of the hardest things to do as a trainer or a coach is to ‘leave space for silence’. It’s so tempting to fill that emptiness. BUT you give your trainees the time to think which is the most valuable thing you can do. Very impressive.

As a low ELO player, this was great to watch.

I love the fact that Gotham isn’t telling him what to do, but he’s guiding him to make better options for his(myth) development and not just telling him ‘so now you want to do this move’. He’s making myth think about the move he makes and what other moves he could make that could be better, while still showing him without shoving it in his face. I would love chess with a teacher like Gotham

I have a lot of beginners on my team, and watching people like yourself and Hikaru coach beginners and bring them up really helps give me ideas of how to become a better coach. Thank you for sharing lessons like these. This type of "let's play a game and talk through thought processes" coaching style will be very helpful to my students.
