If you think deeper, it might actually a good direction if not exactly what he mentioned. At some point of life you will get off track and did some sh!t for fun that got you into trouble, but at least you experienced and enjoyed all that while later to learn the outcome, WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG AND NAIVE with less commitments and responsibility on your shoulder. It might not be a must for each individual but at least theres a golden period of 'window' to allow you to be silly and discover mistakes as you grow wiser while its not late. Being 'real' adult will have bigger consequences and alot more to lose.
