#DRYWALL #Makita DSD180Z or XDS01Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Cut-Out Saw
For straighter, more accurate cutting in vertical and overhead applications, Makita has a solution with the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Cut-Out Saw. It’s designed to cut openings in installed board, including drywall and plywood, and will cut up to 984 feet of ½ inch drywall on a single charge using a 4.0Ah battery (sold separately). To help prevent damage to objects behind the board being cut, it has a short ¼ inch stroke length with an adjustable blade depth up to 1-3/16 inch (9/16 inch in wood). For improved dust extraction, the XDS01Z has a dust port with a clear dust box for increased visibility. It is ideal for cut-outs and drywall repair applications.

Do the "cheaper homes" in Australia have that cornice too? Would definitely save time not doing angles.

How does this compare to using a jigsaw with a shortened blade? How much dust does it kick up compared to a jigsaw?

Nice job Max. That Makita drywall saw is a must have tool for drywall repairs. I remember when you reviewed that. You have been using it for a while now. Just ordered a Maxkil hoodie, very cool.

Great video I bought one and have used a couple of times now to find joists for over boarding ceilings… the drywall blade cuts through artex ceilings easy great tool! What is the dust / vacuum attachment your using? Do you have a link for me as I could do with one just for this tool. Thanks Mike

Bought one, used on one job

It is now with the Makita service centre, the problem was a build up of plaster dust so it is not a warranty claim they say

Phone calls will be made to Makita next week

My boss got this tool. very handy, but I hate the vacuum tube. It needs a back pack vacuum or something.

I really want this but they need to make a carbide abrasive blade for Plaster walls because the normal blades with teeth get destroyed way too fast. That's my biggest issue I'd like to solve right now. You're either using a sawsall or a grinder and both make a lot of dust and rough cuts.

I have the Milwaukee 3" cut off saw with dust port, which works amazingly well with the abrasive disc on plaster, but the cutting depth is only 5/8" and you still have to follow through your cut with a multitool because plaster is usually 3/4" which defeats the purpose. Wish they made it in a 4.5" blade.

Hi mate your using rotary hammer drill with what drill bit to remove cornice? Great job with the videos 👍

LOL. How about those comments about huge gaps where the ceiling meets the walls... they clearly don't realize that cornice had been installed and it doesn't need to be as tight as for square-set, right?

Disappointing to see someones cut the speed brace on the trusses to enter the roof instead of trying somewhere else. 7:37

This is an amazing tool, but not worth it unless you patch drywall regularly. I barely ever am able to use mine, since I'm only ever cutting drywall right along side of tile to remove the tiles, or I'm tearing out entire walls which its useless for in either situation. Also you can't even see where you're cutting if you don't have a vac hooked to it, unless you remove the clear shroud, which is a pain in the buns. Oh and worst of all, you cant cut up the middle of a stud like you would want to, because you'll wreck the blade on the screws, so you have to use blocking, but there's very often pipes and wires in the way preventing that. Very rare for me to even encounter an opportunity to use it, and I do interior remodeling. I leave mine at home now, just took up space in my truck. Least versatile tool ever, but it's the best way to cut drywall in certain situations.
