If made with the zest and juice, and without the pith, it is delicious.

I saw some fellow Brazilians in the comments but maybe, due to Enligsh not being our first language, none got it right. Here's the full explanation.
The same way Americans use lemon, we actually use lime. Seasoning, juice, everything.
For some reason, lemons are very expensive here and they're called "Sicilian lemon".

Our "lemonade" is actually a "limeonade", if that makes sense.

Water, lime juice, ice and sugar. That's it.

So… Americans on TikTok screwing up Brazilian recipes ends up being blamed on the Swiss folk 😂 I love it

If you use the kind of limes they have in South America, which have much less pith, it's fine. The closest thing in America are key limes. The bitterness is actually a nice addition, although personally I would just recommend adding sugar (granulated or powder depending on preference) over condensed milk.

Hi, brazilian here 👋
First of all, sorry for my poor english.
Second, here in Brazil, limonada suíça (Brazilian lemonade) is usually made with ONLY the JUICE of Limão Siciliano (Citrus x Lime) or Limão Taiti (Citrus × Latifolia), condensed milk, sugar, water & ice. Some of us also like to put some of it's zest on it, BUT IT AINT EVERYONE ALRIGHT? Also the most common form of "lemonade" here is made with the lemons i mentioned above, ice, water and sometimes sugar.
Wish this information can help someone. ^^

Tip; don’t blend the limes the whole way. Just pulse them a couple times and make sure the peel and pith remain in tact. This gets rid of the bitterness and gives you a creamy, fresh, citrusy tasting limeade.

I tried this twice with another youtuber's recipe, only blending for 30 seconds and it was delicious, not bitter at all

I do something similar to this (not Brazilian, it’s for my health). What I do is freeze the fruit before blending it. This breaks down the fibres in the pith so it blends better and in my experience it does not come out all that bitter.

In Brazil, we use what are known in the U.S. as limes. And they have very little pith inside. They must be deseeded, of course, and cut into fourths. The white pithy part in the center is trimmed away, and the rest goes in the blender with the other ingredients. It's delicious and not bitter at all.

Add a little salt it helps a lot with the bitterness. Or you could peel & zest the limes before bleeding.

I've been saying this forever!!! Thank you. You're supposed to use some of the limes' zest, then peel them, removing all pith, and then use the actual lime flesh. So some zest and flesh only!! 💫👩🏽‍🏫

Are you Brazilian? Brazilians DO drink this and you ARE making it wrong.

It should not be bitter if you drink it right after

Skill issue

It's wrong Man, i'm Brazilian, you can Just make It with the lemon juice, and blend It with Ice so It makes the drink creamy, and solves the problem with the biterness

There was a video where Jose El Cook made one with the lime juice and he used the zest but avoided using the bitter part. Looked really good. First video I saw avoiding that part

Just don't over blend it and the bitterness is perfect for cutting through the sweetness of the sweetened condensed milk

I agree with the thought process here, I had a similar opinion… then I tried it and was shocked that it was delicious and had almost no undertones of bitterness that I or my friends found. But nonetheless you could zest the limes then cut the pith off to leave a naked lime and make it that way… just a lot of work not sure it would be worth it vs just throwing it in and hitting blend.

You can make it but for that you will have to remove the center of the lime and also the ends of it. Don't blend that for a long time its just a pulse. After that you should strain and blend it again with condensed milk.
