In the wake of the newest Gravity Falls book, “The Book Of Bill” completely reigniting the Gravity Falls fandom, there are a lot of questions flying around. Chief among them is that same old question we’ve been asking for years, “Is Gravity Falls coming back?”
But no one really dissects what a Gravity Falls revival would actually be. So today, let’s weigh out the options and see if Gravity Falls even SHOULD come back.

To quote Alex himself, "Endings are really difficult. Humans, in general, we don't like endings. We don't want to believe that we're gonna have an ending. We don't like it when a movie ends, or a book ends, or our favorite show ends. For that reason, writing a finale is nearly impossible. Writing a premiere is the hardest thing you'll ever do, because you're trying to convince people to fall in love with you. Writing a finale is the second hardest, because now that they love you, you're trying to convince them that it's okay that you're breaking up with them."

For the series itself, I don't think we need a new season, but a mini-series featuring Stan and Ford travelling the world to find these strange anomalies would be an interesting idea
(Prolly calling it Beyond Gravity Falls).

Would I want it to come back? Yes, I would love that. But I don't mind the two seasons, since it feels completed, so I'm content with either or.

I think what would be fun is an anthology series similar to Adventure Time Distant Lands, where each episode focuses on a different character. Maybe an episode about Stan's exploits while roaming the country, an episode about Ford in the multiverse, and maybe the final episode could be that episode Alex wanted to make where it focuses on Dipper and Mabel about to leave, and getting teleported back in time to the first day of summer, and maybe end with them returning the next summer, and maybe get another glimpse into Dipper and Mabel's future.

Yes but only if 1 Alex Hirsch is involved and 2 it’s more books, a movie, or my preferred comeback a miniseries with the Stan twins, but no season 3 we don’t need that.

There are two types of Gravity Falls Fans. Ones who want a third season, and those who understand the show enough to know that it doesn't need one (or at least one taking place after the end of the show); The show is partially ABOUT appreciating things not lasting forever.
See: Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future.

I'm not saying those who want a season three aren't "real fans", but rather that there MIGHT be more they need to understand about the show, to understand what its saying about the brevity of "the good times".

Edit: couple minutes after posting I realized there is too much I want to add. I've made so many posts about this EXACT topic and I want to know if the people watching THIS video would want a much much deeper version of this video more focussed how fans interact with the concept of a revival and the themes of the show as a whole.

Honestly, the whole book of bill thing seems like Disney seeing how popular the series still is and may green-light a potential movie or some secondary series not focused on Dipper and Mabel

I think they should use that page of died versions of Dipper and Mable trying to reach for the twins as a idea for a movie

I’d love a spin off with Stan and Ford comedically adventuring the sea video chatting Mabel and Dipper once every episode or something

Personally, I don’t think the show should come back. It ended really well and it in my opinion would kind of ruin the original ending if they did come back with the season three but Alex Hirsch did say he would be interested in doing a movie to be honest, I would watch a gravity Falls movie

Your movie idea at the end is probably the best continuation to gravity falls I've ever heard, you must be hired

I feel like part of the magic of gravity falls is the novelty of it all, a small town that’s so weird it’s all just sort of taken for granted by everyone. Realistically, there’s nothing more they could’ve accomplished with these characters immediately. Wendy will keep on being Wendy until she leaves for college or whatever, Soos will keep on being Stan’s successor, and Dipper and Mabel will keep on being the same because there’s really not too much of a difference between the characters from both summers. In order to really be a memorable addition to the universe that adds a level of maturity, I feel like they should build up to the twins turning 16, Wendy and the older crew leaving for college, and having the twins grapple with the fact that the Gravity Falls they know is changing and things they love are ending. It could be cool for them both to find their own paths in the things they enjoy and leave the season with more defined characteristics that set them up for successful adulthood. It would add so much depth and nuance to a potential season 3 if they made the point that good things might end, but better things are coming.

I’ve said it before, if there’s a season 3, I don’t want Dipper and Mabel to come back. I know it would be a bold move to completely change the main characters, but let’s be real. It wouldn’t make sense for them to come back without *very* careful writing. Plus, it would be interesting to see the town from a different point of view. I think this idea has merit, really just “A New Wish” it.

What are you all talking about? I don’t remember anything about this Bill, or a book he wrote. All I know is about a strange dream about a weird triangle giving me a weird book, and something about a therapy prison? Really don’t remember a lot.

I agree that gravity falls could be ruined if continued, but I think spin-offs are still a good idea. Here are some random stuff they can do:

-what ford was doing when entering the portal (I know we got some of that in the journal, but I mean everything)
-[STAN-O-WAR II]
-maybe a 2 hour *fixing it with soos*
-stan gets shot. *He gets shot.*

I think they should make journal 1&2 books

My opinion: let it rest in peace. The show ended perfectly, and it needs no more episodes than the ones it’s already got. It’s the closest thing to perfect that Disney channel has. Hell Over the Garden Wall had only ten episodes yet it is the most perfect a show can possibly get. You don’t need to keep going for it to be good. Companies should really listen to these words…
