Last P3 Orion leaves NAS Jacksonville

June 23, 2023, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. Patrol Squadron 30 (VP-30) today held a "sundown" ceremony to send off the last P-3 Orion to take off from the legendary air base here in Northeast Florida. This ceremony concludes an amazing six decade run of fleet service for the venerable air frame.

Many hours in them, but I was a seagoing aircrew in Lockheed S-3 Vikings. I still rode the P-3's often. Majestic Birds!!

I was at NAS Jax-VP24 from 1976-1978. AMH3 in Airframes shop! Great memories.

I was an AME2 in VP30 - started in Pax 1974 and ended my tour in Jax 1977
