An interview with Tom Waits on the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) where he is still dressed up as his character in the film; the devil. Heath Ledger played the main character in the film and it has been rumoured that Heath based the voice of his character the Joker in the Batman movies on Tom Waits' speaking voice. Included at the end is a fragment of an interview where Tom explains whether he met Heath and his relationship towards him in the movie. The full interview can be found below: Title: Doctor Parnassus: The Last Film Of Heath Ledger

Imagine meeting someone you inspired before he passed away. He even inspired has version of the joker.

I heard somewhere Ledger’s speech pattern as the a joker was inspired by Tom Waits. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but hearing Waits here I see why people would think that.
