As an owner of the Red Magic 7, their hardware is amazing, but their software is just garbage. There are so many things in the UI where you think "Someone had to sit down and re-write this functionality and it's so much worse than AOSP."

One big thing with these phones is reviewers dont talk about is mobile carriers compatibility. If you buy a phone but cant cant use your mobile carrier services of even half their services like whats the point of the phone you just bought.

This is amazing, I've dreamt of this for a long time. I sometimes use Samsung Dex but software-wise (as in usability, ergonomics, etc) it's not there yet, especially after they killed Linux support. But performance has not been a problem for almost 10 years to make most highend phones better than lowend laptops. I have a Nexus 5 which worked like this as far back as 2013 with MHL adapter. MaruOS came later to give a more usable Linux desktop. Of course, the performance was way worse, but good enough for general web browsing and watching videos.

I hope they add a Webcam feature to the streaming mode. It would be easy to imagine an amateur streamer using the phone for gaming sometimes, and the camera othertimes

A big issue with these Red phones is that ZTE just doesn't update them, whether for new Android versions or even security updates. So basically if you want to use this purely as a "game console" and mostly for emulation, that's fine, but even for purely Android games if those are connected, its asking for trouble long term. Otherwise pretty amazing phone.

The only sad thing about this company. Is that they hardly get updates in terms of the software side. You can see from previous owners online that they are stuck on the same android it was launched with.
Yes it has great hardware. But without the support it's a throwaway brand. It's very disappointing to see honestly.

Phone looks insane. The specs are incredible, but UI and software support takes that device completely over the top; this is where phones need to be like yesterday.
Makes me want a new phone right now.

Seems like a great phone. My only problem is, where there's a place for air to go in. There's a place for dust to build up. Where there's dust build up, there's overheating issues. Opening phones to clean is not as simple as a pc or laptop.

I still do all this plus movies with my Samsung note 10+ I upgraded my phone like 2-3 years ago and this phone been great all for emulation, gaming, movies etc.
