The thing is, the US system isn’t broken.
It’s actually working far too well, considering it’s not designed to help people, it’s designed to make money.

As an English person I find the American system

Just googleling how much a ride in an ambulance cost in the US. Average $1200 for Advanced Life Support (ALS) and $940 for Basic Life Support (BLS) . That's insane. Just the thought of having to think "can I afford to call 911 or not". That's unthinkable in the rest of the world.

In my country, healthcare is a birth right. No matter if you're employed or unemployed, if you're a citizen, healthcare is free of charge for your whole life and we have one of the best healthcares in the world.. We also have private healthcare if you prefer but it's very affordable and will not break the bank.

When I asked my colleagues in the US Navy in the 1990s (I was an officer in the Belgian Navy) why they chose the military life, they honestly said that one of the main reasons was free healthcare for themselves and their families. It was an eye opener.

I am in the UK and can check online where my taxes were spent - I am on an ok salary of £42000 and paid tax and National Insurance of £9200 - Health was the highest spend at £2094 for the year which equates to about £175 per month for unlimited healthcare free at the point of delivery. So healthcare is not "free" in the UK for working people and my payments partially go towards those less fortunate who do not earn or pay tax but still receive free healthcare. I am totally happy with the way this works and am glad that some of my tax helps others. It is the UK way and I am very proud of it.

You know when I was a child (I’m from Armenia) I had an illusion that the best place to live is America, but now when I grow up, have my own family lived in Czech Republic and in Australia I would never consider America as a place to live. You guys have so many issues including weapons, healthcare, blm other race stuff and a lot more. In Australia for example as an immigrant I don’t even feel like I’m an immigrant

i’ve just been( and will continue to be) on the cancer pathway, i’ve had scans, tests x-ray CT scans and multiple appointments the thought after all this stress, upset and worry to then have a bill to pay is unthinkable to me as a Brit. We have issues with the NHS but i’m so beyond grateful to have it.

Ryan is actually so angry he’s shaking. Healthcare is the weakest point of the American society. I feel you! As European I do feel privileged in this regard.

I am a cancer survivor. I am lucky to have the NHS. I couldn't list all the medical care I had and I would be dead without it.

Watching Ryan slowly becoming a „Social Democrat“(Americans would call it „socialist“ 😑🤦🏼‍♂️) is fascinating. Greetings from Germany

Private health care providers in the US have been shafting it's citizens for years because the US is focused on the word "socialised" with regards to health care they all freak out. I socialise with my family and friends, I am a social person, I socialise with the wider community. Socialised is for all in our country.

I moved from the United States to France 50 years ago (at age 20). I have been hospitalized twice over the years, both times for more than a week, and have also had a couple of outpatient operations. I have never seen a medical bill for any of that.

I live in Italy. I see a baby bed behind you. Think about how much the birth cost you. I have 3 children. Each one cost $10 as a registration fee.
Care for someone earning less than €33, 000 a year, children, over 65 or with a chronic disease such as diabetes or cancer... everything is completely free. You pay for cotton, disinfectant and syringes.
Over that amount of income, there are small fees to pay for things like Xrays, etc.
Ambulances are run by volunteer organizations and are free with trained personnel always including a medical professional. Doctors make free house calls. I could go on and on. And we really do not have higher taxes at the end of the day.
It is not socialist. It is decency.

I think one thing Americans tend not to realise is that the smaller the government the more easily it is controlled by powerful private interests that no one voted.
Also a government is as inefficient and incompetent as you make it, it’s not a fatality, in the USA it is kept that way by design to help serve the private interests of the few.

Imagine someone is drowning and your rate to save them is $50. But he only has $30. And so you just watch him drown. Terrible? But your healthcare system works in a similar way.

The problem at the root of this is that in the US money buys political influence. This video brings it as if it's natural that rich corporations are powerful, but that's not the way democracy is supposed to work. The funding of politicians by corporations like in the US is just plain old corruption. Democracy is supposed to mean an equal say for everyone - regardless of wealth.

I was getting so frustrated for you 😂 I'm in the UK, American health care is nuts. American politics is so polarised that the sensible universal health care that most of the rest of the world use would be considered " socialism " A word that seems to strike terror into the hearts of Americans. I hope you can get it sorted, personally I'd vote Bernie Saunders if I could
