How to Write a Reaction Paper

Writing a reaction paper gives you the opportunity to describe your own thoughts on a particular reading, film, song, or any other work. This essay type is incredibly broad, but don’t worry! I’ll explain common types of reactions, such as critiques of the author’s writing style or argument. Together, we’ll write a defensible thesis statement and create our introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.

This video uses a sample reaction paper I wrote to discuss Nicholas Carr’s article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” (linked above). I’ve included a detailed outline of body paragraphs. Feel free to use this outline format when writing your own paper!
