Intro - Hades II (Early Access) - Erebus

Hades II is an early access roguelike action role-playing game video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. A direct sequel to Hades (2020), it follows Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to Zagreus, the protagonist of the first game. Melinoë aims to defeat Chronos, the Titan of Time, with the aid of other Olympian Gods.

Hades II was announced in December 2022 and was released in early access in May 2024.

The game takes place sometime after the events of the first game. The main antagonist of the game is the Titan of Time, Chronos, who escaped his imprisonment in the Underworld, captured Hades and began to wage war against Olympus. With the aid of Olympus, Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and daughter of Hades must enter the Underworld to defeat her grandfather, Chronos, and his forces.

Melinoë is a chthonic nymph associated with ghosts and nightmares. Before the events precede up to Hades II, while Melinoë's family lived a happy life in the underworld, the titan Chronos broke free from his prison deep in Tartarus and took control of the underworld. Hecate rescued Melinoë and trained her to be a titan slayer as Hecate believes that Melinoë is predestined to defeat Chronos and end his reign. Melinoë now must descend to the Underworld and defeat Chronos.

Melinoë in Greek Mythology, daughter of Zeus and Persephone or Hades and Persephone, is the goddess of ghosts, restless spirits, offerings to the dead, nightmares, fear and madness. All of which she brought to mortals as she roamed the earth with ghosts at her side. Yet she was also known as the protector of the dead, as many would revere and worship her in the hopes, she would reunite them with deceased loved ones with her abilities to communicate with the dead. She also had the power to cast illusions and was also known for witchcraft herself, hence why she is called a witch by other characters.
