I just made two of these, and I'm confused by something. Other people say sand off all the insulation on one end, and half the insulation on the other end, with the orientation of the sanded half near on e side of the coil. I tried this, and it worked. I did not catch the orientation of the sanding relative to the coil in your video.
Second question. There is a YouTube video where they sand of all insulation on both ends, and it works. I tried this, and it worked but seemed to be inconsistent. Sometimes it did not spin, but I could feel the Lorenz force keeping it in one orientation when I tried to spin it. I think when it does spin maybe the vibration of the bare wires in the holes might set up an intermittent electrical contact somehow in sympathy with the rotation of the magnetic field of the coils. They used bent paperclips instead of needles. You could maybe try this?

That is not insulated wire in the video, looks to be copper wire.

But it's not working
What can the possible problem be?I've used
safety pins (attracted by magnets) instead of the needle u've used, with the coil having lesser no of turns
