How to FALL from a Motorcycle with No Consequences

Sooner or later, every motorcyclist decides to test Sir Isaac Newton's theory and ends up falling off their bike. And those of us who practice riding exercises a lot tend to do it a little bit more often than we'd like. What should we do in such a situation? How can we fall off a motorcycle correctly and, ideally, avoid injuring ourselves? Luckily or unluckily, yours truly is an expert in the art of rapid unintentional dismount from a motorcycle, and I'm ready to share this great wisdom with you today. So, here's my version of how to fall off a motorcycle safely during practicing the riding techniques.

On Moto Control channel you will find videos about motorcycles, motorcycle riding techniques, tips & tricks and online motorcycle training for beginner and advanced riders!
A little info about me. My name is Andrei Bodrov, originally I'm from Moscow, Russia, and now I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Back in Moscow I was a motorcycle instructor and creator of Moto Control Beginner & Advanced motorcycle rider courses, which quickly became the most popular courses in Moscow (well, at least the advanced one😁). My advanced training course makes emphasis on slow speed riding techniques at first (such as good clutch and throttle control, proper riding posture, proper use of vision, etc.), then proceeds to more advanced techniques (such as aggressive braking, trail braking, maximal lean angle). The course incorporates a lot of exercises from DOSAF slow speed riding (similar to police rodeo like motorcycle training in USA), braking and cornering exercises and motogymkhana style riding. And now, since I actively learn English - I decided to post some useful videos for both your and mine practice!😉

Since everyone writes this, it's necessary, I suppose 🤷, so here we go. Disclaimer: Ride at your own risk, you are responsible for your own safety. Me, Andrey Bodrov and my channel, Moto Control disclaim any liability incurred in connection with the use of riding techniques from this channel. Use common sense, wear full protective gear and ride in a safe and predictable manner!

There is an offroad technique where you use your foot to quickly and briefly stomp to kick the bike back up. The trick is to do a stomp and retract as quickly back to the peg, put your foot out ahead, stomp and pull it back up before it goes behind. It can definitely sometimes save you, but you must not leave the foot down for more than a split second.

Thank you, as always. Having watched your video I will buy better trousers and boots. I had concentrated on decent helmet, jacket and gloves.

Just catching up after a few months. Man, I forgot how subtly hilarious you are. Like, "It gives us the unique opportunity to run over ourselves with our own motorcycle." 😂

Now to finish catching up. Thanks for the amazing lessons, as always. I consider myself pretty solidly intermediate on most of these skills, but still learn much!

"rapid unintentional dismount" I am going to use that.

As an instructor I can relate to what you said about people skipping on boots and pants.
For most people the helmet is plenty enough for most cases.
Until you slide under the bike and your ankle twist !
Great channel !

As a newbie, I am constantly of two minds and was recently on the verge of ditching the idea of motorcycling, but thanks to the invaluable instructions you provide on your channel, you keep motivating and persuading me each day to give it a go and explore this new hobby. Thank you for that!

Commuting and track: air bag vests, getting cheaper; and, yes HOW to fall! So good of you to put this on.

I have learned so much from all of your videos and become a much better rider and more importantly a safer rider. “Ask me how I know?” as you say 😃 I had my first group ride EVER when I participated with my motorcycle organization this morning and the “Tail Gunner” rider who protects everyone from the rear said I was a very skilled rider and did great. Thank you, Moto Control - I would not be where I am today without you….you’re the best!

Great information! Thank you so much for reminding me that I should always wear my gear. I was starting to get used to only wearing a helmet and gloves when riding as I build up my confidence. But this is a wake up call that I should always wear my gear. Thanks for all your videos!

The "not stick your feet out" tip is so true, i could have leaned more, but instincts made me put the foot on the floor and i went to the floor

Broke my collar bone practicing figure 8s at 5mph. 6-8 weeks of riding time lost! Went out and got stand-alone elbow armor to feel more comfortable falling on my elbow, plus an airbag.
