These eps were more journalistic than "Hunting show". Really took us outside of our western worldview with fast food and acres of supermarkets to some really in-your-face home truths about how spoiled we are, and the fact this ivory tower we sit upon when it comes to hunting ethics is only made possible from our privilege; it's a lesson in gratitude.

I think it’s extremely important how you discussed your inner code of ethics most importantly how you realized your “American code of ethics” matters not when you aren’t in america

These two episodes have given me confidence in my decision to look up to Rinella as an outdoorsman.

Heavy moment for sure, but best line I’ve heard in a while: “I’m ‘on eat that monkey.”

It would be awesome to see Steven take one of these indigenous people on one of is Alaska bear hunts (with an interpreter).

Credit to Steve for stepping out of his comfort zone

In America we have the luxury of choosing what we eat and how it is prepared. It is very privileged to judge others for what they eat

I love how they used the plantain peels as pot holders when they had to move the pot off the fire

Damn this was heavy hitter. Really shows how disconnected I know I am about actually living in the wild.
Really thought and emotion provoking, I love it.
Thank you MeatEater Crew!

Are we just not going to talk about how Steve walked off a bullet ant sting? The pain from those can last 24 hours. Badass!

Awwe I see the native people asking Steve “duele?” As in, “does it hurt?”. It’s so kind that they worry about him.

Though the whole monkey cook was shocking to the average western viewer, the thing that's really shocking is Steve got hit by a friggin' bullet ant and basically said "ow" before quietly and calmly dealing with the pain. They're called BULLET ants for a reason.. because it feels like getting hit by a BULLET.

You basically just saw Steve get shot and then be able to say "I can still go on" after it. That's badass.

The single most amazing episode I’ve ever seen of meat eater. Or any hunting show for that matter. I’d like to think I would have the open mind that Steve had. How other people live is cool to hear about, but when we immerse ourselves in that culture, that’s a whole new ball game. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Steve and crew for making that all to real.

Watching Steve struggle with the culture change is interesting—you literally see steve change as this trip progresses. Hunting as a choice is different than hunting to survive. They eat the monkey because the supermarket doesn't exist. KUDOS to you Steve. Outdoorsman and world traveler :)
