If you don't know anything about the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire), or that it was the longest running modern empire, literally by 100s of years (the Rome you know was about 400, the Eastern Roman Empire lasted from approximately 300-1453) of course you would not know anything about Islam. At least Bill recognizes this. It's also the true cradle of ancient, true christianity.
