Conditional Distributions of Categorical Variables | Statistics

We introduce conditional distributions of categorical variables, looking at examples, side by side bar charts, and we'll discuss how to determine if two categorical variables are associated by looking at the conditional distributions. With a conditional distribution, we look at how a categorical variable is distributed among a fixed value of another categorical variable. For example, we may look how preferred subject is distributed among students, given the condition that they are male. Or we may look how survival status is distributed among those aboard the Titanic, given that they were in the first class. We'll see that for two categorical variables to be independent, the conditional distributions should be fairly uniform. #statistics #apstats
