Prairie Below the Waves: The Great Seagrass Meadow

preview_player
Показать описание
On Earth, seagrass meadows are a critical habitat which support a wide range of biodiversity, notably a nursery for thousands of crustaceans, mollusks, and fish. Several species of megafauna, like manatees and sea turtles, rely upon seagrass for food. In the known world, with a vast inland sea wherein more than half of the map is a vast seagrass meadow, this prairie below the waves is one of the most productive and diverse habitats in Kaimere.

Alright, I’m convinced: Kaimere is real and Keenan is part of the Assembly! There’s no other explanation for how alive these videos feel

OK OK. As a fish lover, I have to say that the Dire Bonito is brilliant! I’ve encountered their relatives here on earth many times and can confirm that their speed is astonishing. Their scissorlike jaws are also notable. I have no doubt that a scaled up version could easily be as dangerous as any mackerel shark.

Okay okay....I love this episode, makes me want to make a fanfic about Kaimere and the fauna of Kaimere being ttansported back to Earth after the range of Homo Sapiens on Earth gets reduced to the North.

I think this is the first ever biome focused episode? The seagrass meadows are definitely one of the signature habitats of the known world of Kaimere so it's nice that we start with them.

We finally learned more about the Kurajaku and it's amazing domain of sea meadow. Tbh, I'm genuinely amazed how much biodiversity that exists in the inland sea...

Love the concept of biome episodes. A lot of the relationship-based episodes felt a bit disconnected at times given that the animals didn't always tend to live near each other, whereas this one felt incredibly tight.

The Kurajaku is probably my favorite Robust Monarch . I can always imagine one running off the sea floor and chasing a whale. Or wrestling a giant crocodile.

I love the diversity of grazers on the Meadows; Dugongs, Parksosaurs, Desomstalids, Sloths, even Dicynodonts

I will never get tired of that picture of Regal Mossman Kurajaku sticking his head out of the water. I love them. Large, In Charge, and things you would not want to meet even if you were sailing on a Barge. Sea Dragons of Kaimere.
Oceans are just... so full of Stuff. And they scare me, on both a personal level and a, "that's a LOT to try to worldbuild" level. Especially in a place with as many species as Kaimere. You have my forever-respect.

Outstanding episode on the Sea grass Meadows. I was waiting for this episode. The variety of animals this biome supports is amazing. I really wish Kaimere was real it would be so fascinating to view all these magnificent creatures in action. Especially that Walrus and Mega marine sloth fight 😁

Am I the only one who finds really weird that whenever land animals go back to the ocean, they end up on top of the food chain? Marine reptiles in the Mesozoic & marine mammals in the Cenozoic. Makes me wonder if there were any giant aquatic amphibians or even therapsids during the Paleozoic.

Man this might be my favorite video yet. I really like seeing species in their biome like this, helps me understand them and their contexts better than the family/clade videos do honestly. Love that there's some Desmostylians still kicking around; one of my favorite didn't quite make it the modern day groups! Also this this basically the only video series I watch where I carefully read the comments since there's so much good discussion!

Ok the Kurajaku just might be favorite animal from this entire series. It’s just such a unique animal and looks cool as hell.
