For those new to manual transmissions, this car gives itself a bit of throttle during startup in first gear, which can help get you off the line. I have a '21 and it's been great. Truly an automotive bargain.

Bought a brand new Jetta SE 2.5 w/ the 5 speed back in 2012. 135k miles and still a blast to drive.

My first introduction to VW was a brand new 2017 GLi with the 6 speed manual. Absolutely fell in love during the test drive. Very quick for what it was. And, super fun to drive while delivering excellent fuel economy on road trips. And yes, I hate myself for getting rid of it. Anyway, in fall of 2020 I got me a base brand new Jetta S with the 8 speed automatic. Nothing special, but a great car. Excellent fuel mileage, very comfy inside, and not a single major issue with the car. Just regular schedule maintenance. Will I buy another VW Jetta or GLi, damn right I will. I also had two Passats. A 2018 R-line and a fully loaded 2019 SE R-Line. Absolutely wonderful cars.

I have a 2013 Jetta that i've had for the past 5 years. My kid is about to get her driver license in a few months so I am looking into giving her that Jetta and possibly get one like this in your video. Thanks for reviewing it!

I have a 2019 Jetta S. 6 speed manual with 140, 000 miles. Use for Amazon deliveries. Cheap plastic emissions hoses were covered under warranty along with recall for rear coil springs. Other than that a great car. 40 mpg all-round driving. Can't complain.

got this exact car in this color and its really fun to drive and for only having 158 hp it really moves. i did upgrade the shiftknob to a weighted one and i got a muffler delete with a straight exhaust tip and the turbo noises are mint 😮‍💨. the exhaust job did have to be custom because of the stock turndown tailpipe. i have some new wheels and suspension coming in to complete the looks, but jts really been hard to find bodykits for it since its fairly new :( overall its great for a first car, especially for a manual!

I like the looks of the cars outside. Other than the lines down the side, the front and rear are really smooth.

I just bought this same exact car and color. It was hard to find a sport with the manual. I paid sticker plus TTL. I had to fight the dealer to take off a 995 added package bs fee. I think sticker price and TTL is the best you can do on this car. They just will not come off the price. To be fair, there is probably not a lot of mark up on the lower trim level. Honda was hitting me with 1400 in fees and would not budge. Thanks for the great reviews Ben. I have been watching you the last two years now.

I had a 2016 Golf that was surprisingly really nice for a hatchback. It had a lot of options, peppy engine and a very comfortable ride. It started having leaks at the sunroof that was a known issue so I was given a Jetta loaner for a couple days while the Golf was at the dealership. The Jetta was garbage with a gutless engine. So much plastic and reminded me of a rental car. The definition of an eco sh__box. I was so glad to get my Golf back. I was later given a brand new well optioned Passat loaner for almost two months when Volkswagen had the Golf at a body shop having the sunroof replaced. The Passat was obviously much nicer than the Jetta, but I still liked the Golf better. They don't even sell the Golf in the US anymore and it's probably just as well since they started putting the Jetta engine in them. I would get a GTI or Golf R if I ever buy another Volkswagen.

Well, it looks like after seven years of driving my current car, a 2016 Ford Focus Sedan SE (six speed manual transmission), I will be getting this same car (in silver) sometime next week. My only concern is quality, but it does come with a 50, 000 mile warranty and three free oil changes.

Sad when 22k is affordable. Got my brand new 2006 Ram quad cab with the Hemi, nicely loaded for 24k. Wow, I sound like my grandfather when he would tell us milk only cost a nickel when he was a kid….
