The girl from ipanema is the second most recorded song in the world! Meaning there’s lots of versions of it but this is by far one of my favorites (besides the original Portuguese version)

I’d also like to add that the meaning of the song is actually quite different when you look at the direct translation of the song. Instead of expecting love in return (like in the English version) the narrator describes how beautiful this woman is. How her beauty offers a moment of peace and grace. How love can be such a fleeting feeling…and that in itself is enough. Even though the narrator questions why they are so lonely, why they feel so sad they forget it all as this woman passes by, never expecting anything in return. The original lyrics are very sweet and I think everyone should check them out

Congrats to the soloist for the pronunciation of the word "Ipanema". It's common to hear USers pronouncing it as "Ipaneema" but hers was spot on
