As someone certified in both CT and MRI this is a pretty good run down summary. Only thing ill add is CTs are also preferred to MRIs in emergency situations due to scan times. Also some studies are better on CT vs MRI and vice versa.

And then Xray too. Last week I had Lumbar MRI, Cervical CT post surgical C2-T2 fusion, decompression and laminectomy for Myomylacia Mylopathy from stenosis Anterior and Posterior cervical surgery I had June 13th. All hardware in good shape. Waiting for Xray now for Lumbar
