This is a good way to understand fractions. Turning fractions into whole numbers make some big numbers though.

My teacher taught me early, quick 2 minute lesson, she said if u have a problem, lets say 3/4 divided by 2/4, she said to do switch the operation to multiplication, and invert 2/4 to 4/2 and multiply across, getting 12/8 and then I would invert it to 1and4/8 and I can simplify to 1and2/4 and then 1and1/2.

Surely when dividing numerically we divide a larger number by a smaller one. In this example it is not easy to tell which fraction is the larger one. In any case where is there a real life example of dividing 2 such fractions? Maybe a better example to show how the rule works would be to present a realistic problem first.

I just take a/b/c/d vertically, then make the reciprocal d/c, mentally lay that over a/b, multiply, simplify, and there ya go: ad/bc
