Fun fact: Bastet was originally a minor goddess back then, but thanks to the popularity of cats both from the Internet and Ancient Egypt, She's renowned as the protector of Ra along with Set who is ironically characterized as a villain despite against the evil forces of Apep.

One of my favorite goddesses in Egyptian myths. It was also said that she was a love goddess, and she invented perfumes. When a cat was mummified, their eyebrows were shaved as a sign of mourning. Bastet was also a sun and moon goddess, historians think because of the moon she must’ve been the Egyptian version of Artemis.

It appears to me after my lifetime of studies the feline is the most successful and possibly the oldest living animal on earth. Ayahuasca trips introduce you to Bastet in Jaguar form. There is so much cat worship that’s it seems undeniable, also the Sphinx. These animals have been perfect since the start.
