I first saw this film when I was young, probably 10 or 11. It shocked me like no other film had. Utterly terrifying, stark, haunting even. It remains one of my absolute favorite films, and everyone I’ve introduced to this film have had polarized reaction, but everyone agreed; it’s a film unlike any other. The score does every moment and frame of the film total justice.

Impossível não ler o Nome da Rosa e não ter a trilha sonora na cabeça. A luz, a sombra e a penumbra incerta da abadia, na "era das catedrais". O século XIII TÃO bem exposto por Umberto Eco.

RIP James Horner. He did not get along with Jean-Jacques Annaud during post-production on this movie; Annaud and the producers wanted classical violins and cellos, Horner wanted eerie synthesizers. I think it's fair to say at this point that Horner was right, and I'm glad he and Annaud reconciled a decade later and worked together until the end of Horner's life. Annaud's most recent film Wolf Totem was scored by Horner.

This soundtrack is a masterpiece! I took me a while to find the CD ... way back .. in the 80's or 90's. I have 2. One is German.
