So I wanted to talk about how factions has changed over the years as well as my own experiences with factions, and how "OG" factions servers are all but gone. I also wanted to criticise some of the newer factions servers for their scummy practices.

I just want to make it clear that while I dislike a lot of newer factions plugins some introduced by cosmicpvp and some not, it does not mean they are bad as other people may like them. What is bad however, is how pay2win the server is and how they have certain features such as gambling on a kids minecraft server.

I play on a minecraft server with such a unique way of playing, there are vehicles that you could build freely and you can attack other factions, gun combat, it's probably the best faction experience I've eve had.

Faction servers were my main game when I was younger. I’d remember grinding up prot 4 armor and perfect sword stashes for weeks so when I pvpd and raided I wouldnt feel bad about losing my stuff. I tried finding an old school server where I could do that, but they’re either start you out with gear that’s too op or have a max of like 5 players on. I miss the old days so badly, I’m hoping I can get a server up that can be as fun as those old servers

I once played alongside someone called martinadbo. I think about the fella every few weeks, wondering how he is. We used to spend hours every day fishing, or using lava and water, or heck, even placing inventories of cobblestone on walls and rev-layers. Genuinely, the guy was a big part of my childhood, and i've scoured everywhere for the man. Was like a big brother to me, especially when I hadn't been treated so justly by any other at the time. Thank you for making this video. I used to play factions with my friends around 2012-2013, on a small server, back when “factions” just meant the basic factions plugin, and otherwise vanilla gameplay. Last summer, I came back to factions, but all I could find were “factions” servers with custom enchantments, spawners, obsidian box bases and OP kits. I wish the old factions would come back :/

I feel like you left out the phase of factions before plug-ins were introduced, but after dispensers were released. That's when bases started to evolve. The introduction of the iconic leinarcher cannon, and how bases were genned/made before gen buckets.

I mostly played hexxit(a minecraft modpack) faction server. Those were the times man. Many people share this thought and someone could make a clean faction server

My idea for factions is no claims, and no p2w. It would force you to keep bases hidden, and have traps for when noone is online

Something to add; this game mode spawned more script kiddies than any other game I played at the time, and I can only assume it's gotten worse. Hacked clients made shit tons of money for things like raidalerts and farm bots n shit. Ddosing was commonplace too when all of those walls became the meta. Raidalerts meant you had a really limited window of time to burrow through an entire buffer of those walls, but if the entire team can't join the game, that becomes obsolete. It was hella common to have people from multiple different timezones in your faction because of people sweating so hard. I remember doing things like everyone staying up until hella early in the morning and memorizing timezones of the players in the faction we wanted to raid. Was really fun when it was good but it grew into a toxic community. People doxxed, accounts got hacked. Sometimes you'd get raided because one of your members accounts were cracked. Faction power was made up of alts that were all brute forced and taken control of. Heaps of cancer, I miss it man but I really don't at the same time.. I miss what it used to be at least

I remember the good old days with Nickskibike and WholeMilk's videos on Shotbow HCF, that was peak factions and it all went downhill from there

i reminisce the hours spent with factions teammates all around the globe, it peaked around 2014-2016, gontroller, daegonner, origin mc, funkyfactions, i still have a snapchat group full of people i played with years ago. raiding, cannoning, competing for top balance was so fun, one of the most fundamental changes to factions for me was when schematica was introduced and anyone could razz up a cannon in no time, it used to be a select few could actually make them by memory.

I remember that many years ago i was enjoying it so much, because you could go explore and find big castle or just a nice house. (i was playing it even before enderpearls). Few years ago (1-2) i tried to play it again, but i did get tired of everything looking the same, the same BIG BOX, with no creativity nothing, when ender pearls wasnt a thing i remember defending some kind of castle with so much fun, but now? What the hell is now? I just miss the old good days, when you could make a nice looking base and you didnt think about tnt cannons, yeah tnt cannons was a thing, but then it was more fun. As he said you could kill someone few times and your power will go down and you could overclaim the faction, i remember being on skype call with my m8, and screaming to them to not to click respawn, because our enemy was in our f home...Ahh... good old days :(

Cosmic PvP back in 2015-2016 was my childhood, but quite simply, the admins and staff team was always on a high horse. The admins often hit 8k players, which was a lot back then, and that popularity got to their heads, and they thought they could do no wrong. There have literally been thousands (not even kidding) of people telling Cosmic staff that they where headed in the wrong direction as things become more unbalanced, and the most OP items being reserved for only the most p2w players. Now Cosmic has trouble getting more than 400 players on at once, and most of the players online are alt accounts.

Manacube factions is one of my favorite factions servers, because there's no "power buying" or super op custom enchants, its the closest server to old faction servers.
