My perspective is this. Careers aren’t made from big hit after big hit. That’s very rare. Careers are made by the people who really connect with your work and decide to stick around through everything. And as long as you stay true to yourself and what you want to make, those people will support you, and you’ll only draw more people in over time. From my perspective as a viewer, I feel like you are just at the beginning of your creative career, and the momentum you have right now should excite you!

I, in fact, really loved that old microphone.

There's something compelling about seeing a man using his phone as a microphone instead of a 2000 dollars special equipment. I feel understood.

You are kind of a prisoner of the algorithm for me. I subscribed to you after your one video and got no notifications or haven't seen your face in the recommendation page for a really long time. Keep up with your work, this isn't the end, this is another banger of a video.

I know this video is 4 months old and you seem to be crushing it now more consistently but if you still need some encouragement, I went through literally this EXACT same rollercoaster when I first started to gain traction about 7 years ago! It was exhausting and discouraging at times but also so exciting and fun to keep working at it. Slow growth is the fastest path to success 😅 You’re gonna be great because you clearly love doing it. That’s the most important thing 👌

For me I always think about the director of the Wizard of Oz. The movie was so big, he realized it was going to be the first line of his obituary. It nearly drove him crazy, trying to outdo the best movie of his career, because he couldn’t stand the thought that he had peaked. He never managed to outdo it, sure enough “Director of the Wizard of Oz” was at the top of his obituary.

I think anyone who is passionate with what they make is considered an artist

Mister achu, please keep at it. Your brand of comedy, your presentation, your brevity, it all taps into something I wish youtubers would lean into more.

this kinda reminds me of the creator of that 'dance monkey' song. i never liked it personally, but the story always fascinated me. they said they did gigs and for whatever other songs they performed, and nobody would be interested. the moment they performed 'dance monkey' there would be hundreds and hundreds of people, huge crowds to watch the performance. because people kept asking for that one song, the artist felt like they just couldn't make a career out of it because nobody would listen to their other songs. i know virality can be a good thing, but if we think about the literal meaning of the term, it's mostly bad rather than good, and it makes you turn against your own craft or simply despise your work after a while :(

People really, really under estimate the privilege of getting to introduce yourself for the first time. Living a life where people think they know you and your value before meeting you is not something I envy.

5:27 ironically I think there's a wonder to the inverse: there's a artist who you've heard their music a lot but you don't know who they are until you sit down and listen to their catalog and realize you've heard it all somewhere

Wow, this video hit home for me. I've been writing fanfiction for myself for most of my life, but for about five years there I was what we call a "big name fan" in a large fandom space, based upon a sudden and inexplicable burst of productivity that resulted in more than a dozen fanfiction stories that were held up by many in the fandom as some of the best. Then life slapped me across the face and I had to stop writing for a while, and when the dust settled my inspiration was completely gone. It took me literal years to be able to write anything at all, and I missed it so badly. Even when I did start to write again, I couldn't stop comparing the shit I was writing to the genuinely very good fiction I'd written before, and it was so discouraging. Eventually I got back to writing for myself, but I know I'll probably never find that combination of inspiration and audience again, and that does sting a bit.

Also, the bit about being an engineering student made me laugh. Switching majors after my first year was probably the best decision I've ever made, honestly.

You sound like my head. You sound like when I talk to myself, just more organized. It's comforting. It makes me belive I could do something with the swirl of thoughts in my head. I talk to myself a lot, usually explaining something to myself (most people think I'm crazy), but it weirdly helps me argue with myself. When I watch your videos, I get to be the part of myself that listens. Instead of leading the conversation, I but in sometimes to place my thoughts, knowing that video is still going. It's probably why I like any and all of your videos. Keep working, you give me hope.

I will be honest, I was testing a Network-Wide adblocker and clicking on random videos and this is the only one that retained me long enough to actually want to watch it

I'm a massive advocate for listening to an artist you enjoy past their hits. I found my current favorite artist through their hit song not knowing that they'd become my favorite artist after I listened to their other, less popular stuff.

As an Artist, well, amature self-tought Illustrator who just exists on YT, i find a lot of the things you say relatable.
And anything can be art as long as there is honesty and care in it.
So i won't kick you out of the artist-space.
