Throughout history, all cultures have devoted significant time to contemplating death. It is therefore unsurprising that people attribute death to supernatural forces. In Western culture, there are figures like the angels of death and the Grim Reaper, who are believed to guide souls into the afterlife. Similarly, in Japan, the Shinigami is a figure associated with death. However, as is common in Japan, the stories and traditions surrounding the Shinigami are unique and varied. #japanesemythology #shinigami #mythology

Well in Bleach anime and manga Shinigami are death gods but they are also called the balansers, they maintain the flow of souls between the world of the living and the afterlife. They use their blades to purify the Hollows, kinda like spirits who devour other souls to fill the void in their hearts.
I would recommend watching that show.

Imagine if the guy was successful in transplanting the candle only to find out that he was tricked into giving his life to a dying person extending the dying ones life instead. Either way the moral would be the same, don't mess with death

I don’t care about the difference between mythology and reality but I enjoy hearing such stories that were never told
