7lbs Ultralight Backpacking Gear List [2023]

here's a closer look at the gear I typically carry into the backcountry. most of my hikes are in the northeast, and this loadout is able to get me comfortably down to freezing temps. i’ve refined my gear over 5 years to reflect my preferred style of hiking (with a heavy emphasis on walking, rather than camping)

based on weather and/or trip requirements, some items may be switched out - I've highlighted those items towards the end of the video

i don't endorse or outright recommend any of the gear present in this video - this is simply what i like to use

Professional hobo here. It's always interesting to see other people's gear. I like using a tarp and hammock for situational awareness and it's quicker to get up to address potential threats. Tents are much much more convenient and provides better quality of life in my opinion. Everything is a trade off or compromise in this life style
