Rodeo Clipping EXPLAINED

Показать описание
When reaching the next carabiner is impossible, experienced climbers rely on a simple yet effective rope trick. By looping the rope from a distance, they secure it to the quickdraw without direct contact. This technique, known as Rodeo Clipping, is a game-changer in sport climbing and tricky starts.

dude do NOT tell people this is commonly used, youre gunna get some new climbers hurt. i have NEVER seen this used other than as a goofy challenge while everyone is on the ground safely

Lol no this trick requires the quick draw to already be on the route which I don't know if you've ever been sport climbing outdoors but the quick draws are not already on the route

And it can also near kill you. When in the middle of a route, any extra slack is additional fall distance. This is a lot of slack, so that may be a fall to the ground.

This is quite dangerous depending on how far up the climb the climber is, they have to have a significant amount of extra rope in the system to do this clip, meaning they’ll fall further if they fall attempting this. Can be fun to do on the ground, but I’d never recommend anyone do this mid climb as you’re putting yourself at risk for no benefit

It's easy to do when you're standing on the ground lol that's me in the 4th clip 🤙

This is never applicable because you very very rarely have clips above you that you can’t reach, as you place them as you climb

Was this short written by a drunk old gym owner?

Wtf. Seeing a guy from your local climbing gym in the video is rare and odd

The only reason I ever use this is to clip the first clip from the ground.

But if you miss and get tired, you have an extra 10-15 feet to fall.

What do you do if it's back clipped

jacoblanctot

This is not commonly used! All I can think about is the high chance of back clipping.

Most people would stay on the ground and have better luck staying alive

There's one climbing skill that will save your life more than any other it's called keeping your feet on the ground😅

... so they got the quick draw on but not the rope? I mean i guess it could stop you losing a quick draw?
